it's because you run only 3 or 4 times a week that you're still so big. run 6-7 days a week. but take a few days a week on softer surface (trails, grass, track or worst case -treadmill ) until some of that weight comes off.
the 10% rule is mostly bullshit. just be sensible. don't go from 20 to 60 mpw. put a week at 40 in the middle.
weight comes off more quickly when you do workouts. that will help your times come down too. hill workouts, track workouts, tax the body.
plus - what somebody said before -- gotta fix your diet and drinking habits, too. cut back going to the deli for lunch, eat a healthier dinner, dont eat donuts for breakfast. limit beer intake to X beers per week - divide that how you like. if you don't fix these things- that weight's coming back on you sooner or later.
