here is the truth of the matter...Rupp made that race, the rabbits did a fantastic job and Rupp pushed the pace courageously to make sure they stayed on record pace, the effort definitly cost him at the end, would he have beaten solinsky? probably not, but he definitly would have had more left to batter with the 2 african guys and maybe shave off a few more seconds

Solinsky also ran an incredible race, it was his first 10,000 on the track and rather than run conservatively mid pack to see what he could do he strung it out there with the lead group on AR pace, and then when he felt great, he still didn't wait till the last 300 but blasted them all in the final 800 for an AR...balls

these guys are both americans, from the same club, and run for affiliated coaches, yet somehow everytime this race is brought up it turns into a pissing contest...its f***ing retarded

fellas, Rupps comment was not whining or callng out solinsky, he was just saying that last year he went into that race with a goal time in mind rather than competing to win, and while he got that time it cost him something against the other runners at the end...are we going to argue that sitting on someone is not harder than leading? no one said he would have beaten solinsky, but the way hes been running and this field...Id say he has about a 40% chance of grabbing his record

^^^FANTASTIC post!!!!!! I'm so sick of the Rupp bashing. Here we have the two best Americans EVER at 10000m putting it on the line in the best international 10000m race in the past....I don't even know how many years. How bout we all get behind these guys and cheer them on!!!! Personally, I'm totally psyched to see both of them entered into this race.
