Standard practice at conference meets. Since the 5K is the last (distance) event, there's no consequence to an athlete scratching out of it. So you enter everybody who can walk and their grandma's just in case it comes down to it.

Germano Fernandez, you need to listen! Go back to your drugies. I know you are feeling guilty because of all this doping was going on while you were in high school. You got used to win and there was no drug test. You could just play with needs up your booty and run your arse really fast. But now things changed, you might be caught. Even that the chances are really small. Think about this other kid running and doing triathlon at speed of light. I am sure this kid is also on drugies. So don't feel guilty. You wanna fame and money at any cost. So go for it. It is better needles up your arse than zulu's tool in a jail cell.

This was complete F-tard race!!!!!!!!!! There is no way Lowe intensionally grabbed anyone unless Bosshard was being a complete dick head!?!? And why in the hell did everyone else not finish ???? What the hell were they all doing??????? Smith must be super pissed off or otherwise he just told his runners to shut it down and forget the whole damn thing. ? There are at least 10 of those guys who could have run faster! Stupid, completely stupid!!!!!! Waste of time!!!! So that's it for Fernandez - no more chances this year???? F%@ck!!!!

In the 5000 at league meets the 5000 is at the end (for distance runners). Often a bunch will start but then other things finish and it is often the case that those with no impact or who are not going to finish well drop out.

Hmm that's a tough one. On one side if he did impeed him, maybe he should be DQ'd, but if he without a doubt didn't change the outcome of the race, could you argue he should not be DQ'd?
i was at the meet, with 300 to go colby cut bosshard off so bad that bosshard almost fell off the track. then bosshard regrouped and kicked colby's ass.
everyone in the stadium could see colby cut him off and he happened to do it RIGHT IN FRONT of an official... it was a pretty clear cut DQ

Fernandez and neal smith were the only DNFs for ok state, and in all honestly I dont think they were counting on anything huge from smith. All the others were DNS aka 'did not start'. And I dont get why you're saying that 10 guys that could've ran faster.... Confrence meets are 99.9% of the time are SLOW and a kicker's race(as this one was. So their times were slow but it was a much tougher race than the time shows. Time is irrelavent in these races, its all about place

Like I said earlier, who cares! I loved watching this kid run in high school and as a freshman in college. But there is something going on with him Mentally. Talent like that doesn't just disapear. I hope he can salvage something for the rest of his collegiat career. I really have high hopes for him
It is totally a physical problem.
One thing I've not seen anyone mention is that he major is something to do with law enforcement. Maybe they tased him in class, it messed up his nervous system and he's not able to run anymore.
4 pages and still not one person has said WHY he dropped out? WHY THE HELL DID HE DROP? Anyone at the race? Not being in scoring contention is not a good reason, but was that it? Was he injured? more shoe BS?
