There is one good reason LV isn't running that double, where the hell would he run it? You think he is going to solo a national record and a sub 4 mile in one day? No way, he'd have to be in absolutely earth shattering shape to do that. If he CAN do something like that, he shouldn't waste his time with the sub 4, he should put the 2 mile record on a shelf in the low 8:20s for a couple of decades.

Exactly... do you guys even realize the requirements necessary to surpass German's double? Lukas would have to break 4 and then come back 2 hours later and run 8:33 or better in the same day. If he did it, there would be no question that he would be the greatest high school distance runner ever, but a double like that would be hard for most top college guys to do let alone a high schooler. Not saying it would be impossible, but it is such a monumental achievement that it seems unlikely, and a 4:10/8:40 is nowhere near a 4:00(mile)/8:36(2 mile).

I feel as though GF double is better than LV's tripple. However I feel and hope that LV will have a much better college career than GF (team championships don't count only personal achievements - just cuz you were on a great team and won nationals twice doesn't mean you were in the top 10 individually). And if LV gave that double a shot in June I think he'd be a lot closer/possibly break the 4:01 and 8:34 mark that GF set.

Why is it that everytime Lukas races people compare him to someone like German or anyone else for that matter? There has never been someone like Lukas (Top triathlete and track/xc athlete). His triple was on the biggest stage for high school runners and he came away with a win in every race he won with astounding times. He has won 5 national titles this year alone and will end up crushing German's times by the end of outdoor track. /thread

I agree 100% with this. Good indoor tracks are not any slower than outdoor tracks, especially accounting for weather.

I also remember a DNF and a 100+. People state GF has two national team xc titles like he was a team leader. But on one of those he ran with the scrubs. My point is not that he didn't place 8th last year. But that you can't throw around two team titles as a personal accomplishment and something which boosts your career compared to other athletes. Only personal accomplishments should measure an athlete, not team accomplishments.

lukas did the full 2 mile, one hour of rest and then the full one mile.

lukas was lapping people the entire time and having to maneuver around people constantly for the last mile. I mean the clock even stopped at 8:38 before it came out it was a lapped runner.

Why do people keep repeating this one hour of rest notion between LV's efforts?

2 mile start time: 9:15 (finish time: 9:24)

1 mile start time: 1:49

Time from 2 mile finish to 1 mile start: 4:25

That is not close enough to one hour for this to keep getting repeated. Why do be people keep saying this?

I am the OP.

First, to the guy who thought the 2 mile was at 9:15, that was the non-seeded sections. LV's final was scheduled for 12:31.

Second, I am so glad to see GF get such support. I really do think his 4:00/8:34 was superior, but was on a high from watching that triple on the internet that I got carried away.

Third, I apologize for the error listing GF's 4:00 as 4:01. I knew that, and just plain made a mistake.
