1) Most top 400/800 runners don't run the 500 indoors. Kerron Clement surely would have destroyed the record the year he broke the 400 indoor record. I would give him high 58's no doubt.

2) Ncaa's champs (you know the race the best peak for) does not have the 500.

3) No one trains for the 500, those that race it are training for the 400, or are 400h guys outdoors, or 800 guys getting some speed races in.

If the best ran it, and it was an Ncaa champ event. You can bet there would be tons of times faster than he just ran.

2) I seriously doubt that race was the centerpiece of Loxsom's season either.

Like a said, not world shattering, but very impressive.

Dinkins ran 61.70 on Jan 30th last year as a freshman. Don't think he got a 3 page thread...

I knew a guy who went 1:02.4, with 49.3 indoor 400 pr. 47.8/155 type outdoors. I have no doubt a guy who went 44.57 indoors, who runs the 400h's outdoors could go sub 60. Clement is the ideal 500 meter runner with his 400h training. I would not be shocked if he could have even broken 58 that year.

400H guy toby ulm at gtwn ran a 1:01.6 last year> great time but he's like a 47 flat maybe high 46/50 flat 400h 1:50 800 < its not like you have to be a cross between coe and edwin moses to run that time. also if i remember there was some guy at rutgers last yr who ran 1:0x. nice accomplishment for cas laxom, though

From your post, as well as his 400 split, one can conclude that Loxsome is capable of 45-high/46 low for 400, with which I would concur. A strong indicator for an 800 guy.

I believe Loxsom's time at the 400m mark during the 500m run this week clocked about 44.5 ... his coach told him he went out too aggressively and he must have hit "the wall" during the last 100m of that race ... But I guess he proved to himself something about his 400m potential ... look it up. BMW
