I hope you are legitimate, but nevertheless your description is very apt. It's very easy to act and feel tough when you've never endured any difficulty or pain. After life has rolled a few bolders down your path, then you find out just how strong you really are. Being tough is about dealing with some damn painful stuff and surviving it.
I agree, it's also hard to not ruminate over a lot of nasty stuff which happened in your past & get emotional.
Certainly in your 50's there should be some reduction in testosterone levels. Although if you lift weights, stay in shape it won't be too noticeable. I haven't heard that estrogen increases. There could be a relationship to emotionality but I doubt it. (Actually some reduction in testosterone might be good for me if it slows the growth of my enlarged prostate)My experience tells me that posts like yours are not written by males secure in their own masculinity. Your changing handle with this type of negative post suggests a high level of timidity on your part.

I cry every time I pay attention to those ASPCA and related commercials with the stupid, sappy Sarah MacLaughlin music.
A few months ago when my dog died. (I'm 22.) It happens sometimes. Family problems, depression, etc can all trigger it. Really don't think this should be such an issue. If crying makes you feel better I see nothing wrong with it. Frankly the idea that men should have no emotions is probably one of the stupider things about the times we live in.

I do find that I get teary at times when watching my daughter run in XC or track races. The very serious determination on her sweet little face just melts me.
My husband thinks it's sweet that I'm so sentimental about her racing, but I'm hoping to get a better handle on this, as it's a little embarrassing and difficult to explain.
I thought about your post all day yesterday. As I was putting my three-year-old daughter to bed, I thought about how it will make me feel if/when she runs XC. I will probably get teary too, but I am a dad. Don't wish it away, there is something really powerful in that kind of emotion. You should be glad that it moves you so much. You sound like a good mother.
