Wow, I am flattered that anybody would say that about me. But honestly nobody can deny that Kelly Slater is the best and he has proved it to the max. I am a huge fan of his along with Laird, who is beyond words, and a whole list of other dudes that is too long to mention. I had a good surfing career and am happy with it, but more happy that I can still surf everyday and love it as much now as when I was a little grom growing up. Its nice to be remembered as somebody who did something good. But I am not the best ever by far. But not bad for an old geezer...

Hi corky,
Do you ever do any running? Do you know how fast you could run a 5k? Do any surfers do this as cross training?
Tom Curren or Kelly Slater

I loved Curren's style. I always thought the reason his battles with Tom Carroll were so awesome was due to the contrast in styles. Curren was elegant, Carroll was brutish. Curren was lithe, smooth, Carroll was stocky, edgy. Great time in the sport. All time I would give the nod to Curren. It should be noted Slater cut his teeth with Curren and really developed under his guidance.
Second favorite would be Buttons Kaluhiokalani. Mad style that one.
watch the movie Blue Horizon. Gives you an idea where pro surfing is at.
