The 98 percentile range is probably 80-180 with the core range (60%) being 120-150 per week.
First of all, I don't agree with your facts. I think there is probably as many cases of 90-100 mpw guys running at the elite level (sub 2:08) as 130-140 mpw guys, especially when you consider East African runners. Did you read the Claudio Bernotoulli/Renato Canova thread from last year?
Not all miles are created equally. Guys who succeed at the 90-100 mpw range usually do so by running a higher percentage of their runs at MP or faster. Some athletes are able to train at MP 40% of the time during specific phases of training.
