For the last ten days before a big race I would have a very tight, even painful, back and often stomach cramps including phantom appendicitis. It takes a real knowledge of ones body to separate what is a real injury and what is not. That comes with time and the luck of being right more than wrong.
So guys relax and enjoy. Maybe training should include learning deep breathing and how to relax so you don't tighten up for those who do.

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone luck who is running this weekend. Hopefully, all of your little nagging injuries are well gone and you are bouncing from the walls ready to race. Your months of training are about to payoff. When it starts to hurt in the late stages of the race, just remember all of the work that you've put in to get to that point.
And, make sure you get back here quickly to give us some race reports.

I second this ^^. Go get it guys. Get us all off to a good start. It's up to you guys to get the PR ball rolling for the rest of us. Go run some great races, and more importantly, HAVE FUN! This weekend will be the start of a great fall marathon racing season, I can feel it.

Legs & lungs feeling strong & able to recover pretty quickly after workouts. Was bummed about the slow pace for Saturday's second half tempo, but I'm just thinking of it as a good way to get my legs moving- can't get too down about it. These tempos are tough for me mentally- my mind was wondering, & I felt like I was just out by myself doing my thing without really focusing on the task at hand.
