Hopefully you wouldn't. Srinters do all kinds of nonsense, give terrible interviews ranging from awkward to arrogant to insecure, sometimes rave on about god or slap their chests like a gorilla and nobody focusses on them and constantly rips them. I mean it's a bit strange but who really cares. I might even think it was lame but certainly wouldn't get worked up over it.
The title of this thread should read as follows:
Why do a small handful of mental midgets hate Rupp so much, and why are they so incessant about it?
It's both simple and complex. It's simple in that it's envy, and it's complex in that there are so many ways they envy him. They envy him for all the luck he's had, as well as all the talent he was given. They also envy him for all the success he's made. They envy his work ethic. They envy his ability to take a sh@t storm of pressure and verbal diarrhea and come out on top like it didn't even exist. They envy him because he does it time and time again. They envy his handful of international championship teams, 2 of which he made while in college and a third one his summer after college. They envy his U.S. titles, NCAA titles and the fact that he led his team to NCAA titles. They envy the fact that he set various record starting in high school. They envy that he was great in high school and he still gets better. They envy the fact that he really doesn't care what haters think about him. They envy that he has a girlfriend and he's getting married. They envy a good deal of other things. And then there is that element of him that triggers the insecurity in themselves about their own masculinity.
The truth is a lot of these reasons to envy likely apply to every one of us to a very small degree.
What's different about the mental midgets is their ability (or diseaseability) to mutate that envy into jealousy to the point of getting a sick satisfaction out of machine gun like blasting on him. It's not too diffent than someone who gets high off slamming a door on their chubby time and time again, and yields about the same results.
In short it's a sport for the mentally challenged.
