She's proven that she can run fast enough to be on the team. The 1500 mark isn't likely to be contending for a place at the Big Ten meet anytime soon, but is good enough for a spot on the team (and all the free gear that comes with it).

College students attending college to attend college and get an education, possibly working some to keep the debt accumulation down. Not MY definition of a 'slacker'.
Getting back to the subject, Tommy Schmitz(Mineral Point,WI) has run 3:58 for mile this season will be in the 1500M field. Also his younger brother Bruce will be trying to improve on his 800 PR of 1:52.23

Did miller get the mark? As good as Miller is, coaches there didn't get him into Olympic Trials in 08 and can't compete after his Senior year to ty to earn a contract. That's poor planning; hope Jerry has some room on his couch for future? Sometimes, it's true tht college coaches use you for points and then done with you.hh
Heard through the grapevine (friends at the meet) that Miller ran 3:40, so he's in. don't know anything else yet.....
Miller is in, 3:40 low (59,1:58,2:57), don't know the exact time. Finnerty ran 3:41 high or 3:42 low. The 800 guys weren't close, Beth about 1:49.50.

The 800/1500 were not the only events with qualifying for USATF. Jenny Soceka (Madison/UW-Madison) was trying to his 4.26/13'11 3/4" to qualify. she did 3.96, 4.11, 4.26, 4.36(2), then almost made 4.46. 4.36 is #4 American outdoors this year.

What are you talking about? Miller ran 3:37 in the 1500 and was 6th at USA's last year. He is going to be just fine finding a contract and running after college.
