OK, If Teg usually beats Solinsky; does that mean the Teg can break 27 too?

first of all, Tegenkamp is older than Solinsky, folks. Considerably. Also Tegenkamp was quite successful in WXC juniors and it cannot be denied he's got massive aerobic fitness, aside from speed, with a lot of potential.

Second, I thought Brad Miller was an 8k runner? yeah, milers and millers, but it seemed to me Brad had a slight specialization in xc over his brother--just seemed that way.

Thirdly, by some shakespearean accounts, nothing is slang for sex, as is tuna, but also, taking the symbologies literally, saying that "nothing" is better than sex, I mean, actually being better, this concept of nothing, is either ridiculous because sex usually beats boredom, or a statement of some spiritual person abstaining from sex and contemplating stillness. Either way, it's all flawed.

Teg doesn't run the 10k. The real question in WHEN, not IF, Jager will begin RULING THE ROOST.

But maybe you didn't get the news, blinded by the realization that Teg does not run no 10k; but Craig Miller runs the mile, wicked fast. He has a twin brother though. His name is Brad, and he runs the 800.

I think it is 'possible' but by no means a 'sure thing'.

I believe that the Sol' Train is now the man at both distances for Americans...except for Lagat at the 5000.

I think Tegenkamp has the talent and has put in the work to run a sub-27 10k, but i do not think he is ready to do that right now, since he seems to be coming off injury right now. I think if he had a solid, healthy winter/spring of training without injury, then yes, I think Tegenkamp would be able to run sub-27.

I also think Ritzenhein, Rupp, and Hall are capable of breaking 27 at the right time after the right training and after a healthy stretch of training.

In his post-race interview, Solinsky mentioned that his group started doing more marathon-type training because they realized the benefits of it after Ritzenhein had trained for it for a couple years and then came back and ran 12:56, 27:22. The same thing actually happened with Jen Rhines, and I think the same thing would happen with Ryan Hall if he ever thought about giving the 5k and 10k a chance again. Although, he would need to spend a quantitative amount of time working on reps to convert that marathon strength into speed.

I posted a thread this past summer about whether combining some marathon-type training with distance runners' usual base training in the winter/spring months would optimize their performances. I posted this thread after Ritzenhein smashed the 5k AR and ran 27:22, and it seems Schumacher's group has taken note of this realization as well.

Hall could NEVER and will NEVER break 27. Are you kidding me?

The qualities needed to race a 5,000 or a 10,000 are virtually identical. Not so for the 400 and 800.
