Yeah, with nobody else.
What about his good friend Johnnie Walker, and his brothers Blacky and Red?
I like to down a couple six packs while I drive around and yell 'gobble, gobble this' to skinny runners in my locale.
Why are they the worse places ever, 3200 guy. I can think of quite a few worse places.

I can think of only three places worse than bars: jail, morgues and Hell(of course, for many letsrunners Hell doesn't exist).
I didn't ask what places were worse? I asked why bars are so bad. I think they can be quite nice!
I know you didn't ask that. I was telling you the only 3 places I can think of worse than bars. To each his own I guess.
Cue the sad music...
Bars are nice if you're an alcoholic. That environment helps feed the delusion that you don't have a problem, or that it's O.K. if you haven't grown up yet.
For the rest of us they are dark, smelly, gross places where losers hang out.
Lithe Non-smoker: That's quite a generalization! There are plenty of non-losers that go to bars (people way more successful than you or I) and there are plenty of bars that are not smelly or gross (Since I'm a reasonable guy, I'll give you dark, for the most part).
This is interesting.
Er... here, Letsrun's resident alcoholic. I drank alone regularly, frequently in massive quantities. But that's just it: I don't consider the fact that I drank alone to be particularly significant--lots of people do that fairly frequently on a moderate level and it's a non-issue. HOW MUCH I drank alone is where the problem resided...
When you say "how much" do you mean quantity per session or frequency of sessions. My sessions are pretty infrequent, but sometimes I get pretty drunk.
6400 Guy, you must be an amazingly intuitive guy if you think you can measure another poster's level of success based on a post and an anonymous screen name.
I'm guessing you and I measure success very differently, which is why you waste time in dank, smelly bars and I don't (whenever possible).
And for the record, if the bar is attached to a reputable restaurant, then you're right, there's a chance it may not be smelly, noisy and gross, but if it's a stand-alone watering hole, then highly likely all of the above apply.
Both quantity and frequency on my part. That said, getting pretty drunk alone doesn't sound like such a great idea to me.

i am sipping whiskey alone in my kitchen this very moment. this thread shows up on page 2 if you google drinking alone
This is the greatest thread ever. Please don't let it die.
Hey guess what? I'm drinkin alone! And it is awesome.
I too enjoy drinking alone at the bar. It's easier and I'm on nobody's schedule but my own. Plus I can talk to whoever I want, or nobody at all.
Drinking alone at home isn't bad either.
This IS a good thread. I hope it doesn't go away soon.
I typically drink a quality 6-pack or a few stiff mixies. In all honesty though, I prefer joints. Nothing like the occasional joint rolled of some nice sticky icky. Probably not a big among runners, but definitely something highly enjoyable and relaxing, and something that seems to affect my running less than solo drinking. Like was said before: to each his own
