I'm also a high-school junior thinking of trying to run at an Ivy; one of the biggest setbacks, however, has been my age. I recently turned 16, and am younger than many sophomores. My times are relatively good for my age but feel I am at a disadvantage in the recruiting world, as I am over a year younger than most other juniors. How should I approach my situation? Should I tell coaches candidly that I am very young for my grade? I don't want to sound like a whiny kid, but I do feel it is an important note that coaches should be aware of.
I've also heard that coaches sometimes look for younger runners, as they are less likely to fully mature in high-school/get tired of running. Is this true?
Thanks
