Laws didn't run 15:05 this year on the track either and I am sure he didn't tell you that. And I don't think Cason told you he ran low 14:00 ever or sub 15:00 last year. Both are quite honest about what they have and haven't done.
I think "Carpetbagger" was sarcastically taking the piss out of you for feeling the need to list Brantley's qualifications in your list, not that he didn't know himself.
I'm not the biggest Brantley fan, either. But he did run in the Olympics, which is a lot more than 99 percent of the others on this site can say. I didn't think this thread was about who is now an elite. All I was doing was listing all of the great runners living in the area now. Norm Blair is far from elite now, but he was a badass 20 years ago.

I know people constantly berate people for misspelling things on this board, but we're not talking about a name like John Cocktosten or Kimchogeliud Kipkirchiropronoboniface here. Not that any of you ruthless Jackasses care but this thread was started merely stating that a few good runners where headed back to Brevard. Everyone then proceeded with the ?I know more than you do? and ultimately dragging these runners name through the dirt while hiding behind your screen names. I know many of these guys personally and don?t appreciate the thoughtless bashings. There definitely something special about training in Brevard, and I wish these guys (and gals) success in training, racing, and creating a good running hot spot.

Brevard is awesome!! People are nice there, laid back place to train, trails/trails/trails. Not far from higher altitude! Trust me the jobs are there, just look for them! If you have a college degree you can get some type of job and have adequate time to train!!!

land deals and bad coaching. There are too many people in WNC like John Erickson who think they know the "secret." There is no secret. Brevard is a perfect place to train for anyone motivated. Motivation = living a lifestyle that promotes training hard and racing fast. If you want to live in Brevard, go live there. If you want to train in Brevard, go train there. They are not the same thing.

what is up w/ all the brevard posts lately? I use to live and train in brevard and now live and half-ass train in asheville(figured it out yet). Brevard is a perfect place to train but also has mayberry qualities, i.e., too damn small. Asheville has just as many trails w/ just a little more driving to get to them. Asheville also has a social scene and many good places to eat. The training here is ideal. The only thing lacking a real flat road tempo run, but that can be managed...just thought it weird the '04 posts and then the '06. A training center would be better served in Asheville than Brevard because of the possibility for jobs.
How hard and expensive do you in the knows think it would cost to get a cabin or some sort of housing for like a month over the summer in this crazy place? because i'm likeing what i'm hearing about trails and trails and solitude and whatnot

I always thought Cedar Mountain would be a good place for a ZAP-tyle running group if nobody there needed a job. I would buy those rental cabins near Solomon Jones Road. Dupont Forest is right there for mileage, Brevard only 15 minutes away for road and track runs and occasional trips to Pisgah and easy access to Greenville and points south for racing.
