The announcers' confusion about her time is because they were incorrectly assuming Joan had started with the elite women early....she started with the first wave.
Poor, irresponsible work by the NBC crew. She announced at her press conference that she was going to be starting with the common folk. If they were going milk the ratings by showing her on TV, the least they could have done was get the story straight. Pretty disrespectful to tell the viewing audience she finished 30 minutes slower than actually did.

I realize the multiple quotes can get confusing, but it was the other guy who was trying to make a point about Cal's drop.
I myself find it tiresome when people who defend Boston as legit make the claim that Cal is some super-aided course, when they are in fact very similar.
Oh yeah, I'll be running Cal in a few weeks. :)
