I remember one of the top guys in Ohio coming to an invitational in West Virginia on one of the flattest, fastest courses in the state. Afterward, he commented that it was a "challenging course." For us West Virginians, it was one of the easiest we had, so what some people may call a tough course probably really isn't.
nationally sub 16 yes, state by state it depends?
Sub 16 in most southern states puts you in the top 5, in illinois, california, or NY maybe the top 100
I lived in southern illinois ran 15:01 twice for 3 miles (in xc), never lose a race until state my sophmore and senior years.
junior yr was a wash.
track pr was 4:28 mile
In Alabama only 4 boys in the entire state broke 16 minutes for XC on a legit course.
