You say hermphroditic woman, what is to say she isn't a hermphroditic man? What would make the difference? A penis with no testicles but a womb and ovaries? A vagina with testes and no womb and ovaries? I too have run at the elite level and know I feel for her but not want her in my race. She looked like she even held back in the WC. So she runs a 1:52 with way more testosterone than you will ever produce normally. You go on PED's and everyone will see the change in you either physically or in your times. I agree it is a sad state of affairs and a SA PR nightmare but maybe some good will oome out of it.

But I'd say PED's are way more of an unfair advantage, an intentional one at that, and this is a totally different deal. Anyone could (and will) argue that all day. There is about a 10% advantage to men compared to women.
The advantage from ped's is minimal at best, and up for debate. If you don't care about competing with men, then you might as well shut up about ped's.

AIS does not make one female. For a child with AIS often the parents are forced to assign a gender to the child because the sex (externally or genetically) is ambiguous. The easiest choice is female in most cases. Semenya is no exception. Children may be born with large clitorises or small hypospadic penises.
Sex is not as dichotomous as most people think. You can't always look at the genitals (wherever they are) and so Oh, that's a boy, particularly if the child in question has anatomy of both sexes.
Semenya is, I believe, truly innocent of any wrong-doing. That said, it seems clear that she is in fact a genetic and anatomic male with some form of AIS. "He" therefore should not be allowed to compete against women.
If she does have AIS it is no where near complete androgen resistance. She very obviously has been exposed and responded to androgen hormones during development. This early exposure has irreversible changes to the composition of ones body. Not everybody with AIS can compete, look it up, and I don't think she should be able to for obvious reasons.

I agree that we don't need to cast stones at this point. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and they obviously vary a great deal.
However, we now know what he/she is do from this point forward she should be banned from racing with women. There seems to be MUCH evidence that she has an advantage, and that advantage is biological. As a result, no more running as a girl.

In this case, Semenya is facing a very public and embarrassing situation, and that was inevitable; s/he never should have been put on the line (literally and figuratively). S/he may very well not have known, but others did and they, starting with her East German coach, should pay with their jobs. Semenya's medal has got to go. You cannot have gender divisions in sports and then allow someone like this to compete on the woman's side; it is simply unfair.

It is not amusing. I do not blame Caster. She was raised as a girl despite what genetic testing shows. South Africa wanted a medal and chose to ignore the medical condition. Don't be so naive to think they did not have any inkling. They took advantage of her for national gain at the world championships.
