I usually don't participate in these types of threads, but in reading most of the comments, I must say I agree that triathletes and cyclists are a little smug. Perhaps it is pride or a class thing, becasue I have never met a triathletes or a cyclists to some extent who was not upper middle class. I guess I would probably feel the same way at a polo match. I occassionally do a little biking for cross training and I have done a couple of sprint triathlons and I have come to respect their commitment in terms of time and money.
Btw, the really good triathletes aren't as bad becasue most of them are ex runners and triathletes have their thoughts about 'pure' runners as well; they think runners are not very sexy and strange. To be a serious triathletes requires a ton of money, the equipment and travel is beyond what the average runner could afford.
