It's official: to make NCAA's as a distance runner you have to run at UW

Unfortunately, all the good runners are from Colorado and on West. Sure, there are exceptions, but the good distance runners are in the West, the good sprinters are in the South.

Arkansas? Wisco? Iona? OSU? Providence? Michigan? Texas? Providence? FSU? Georgetown? Villanova? UNC? Liberty?

Although at times it doesnt seem like it, not all good distance runners are at Oregon, Stanford and Washington. The rest of the country has a fair share of good distance runners. A lot of them travel across the country to run at UW too.

Why don't you pussies just take a look at scorers from past NCAA indoors and find out where they got their qualifier?

You're right. UW has the best meet ever. They have the best facility in the nation.That doesn't change the fact that teams blow their small budgets flying across the country to chase times, which is bad for sustaining track programs at smaller schools. Moreover, with all the talent focused in one place, casual track fans are denied a chance to watch a good meet in person unless they also fly across the country to see it. There could be a dozen great meets across the country if you just split up the field at UW. This is evidenced by the post above that listed all the quality tracks across the country (oversized to facilitate qualifiers). I am not picking on this meet and I have nothing against running fast on a big track. There are a lot of meets, some on 200m tracks, that need to change the format to attract fans, TV interest (or at least live online video which is the way we are going), and sponsors. That is the only way to sustain the sport.
