Exactly.....
Why is it that even the Kiwis themselves always mention Audain before Moller? Is it because contrary to Kiwi practice, Audain was a vicious self promoter while Lorraine was quietly getting things done.
second, why so long to mention Hillary and ...
Third ......Sir Ernest Rutherford
finally, just to piss off the aussies whom I love dearly, (with the exception of my ex wife) Noone has mentioned Phar Lap
Watch the movie "Once Were Warriors" and get back to this thread for comment.
p.s. Kiwi world mountain running champ came to Aussie one year for the Aussie Cross Country Champs. The course was on the infamous Ron Gibbs' farm, very hilly. SUPER STEEP HILLS! Kiwi world mountain running champ could not handle the hills, and passed out. I think he left the course in an ambulance. He was not the only one to pass out, but you would think he could manage a hilly cross country course. NSW runners went 1, 2, 3 in that race because they knew what the course was like and trained accordingly.
You can cross him off the list of NZ stars.

Right here. She's an extremely intelligent and independent thinker who is very much her own person. I'm very grateful to her for sorting out a problem with my left knee that I was afraid might end my running days.
And whoever mentioned Black Mac is right on the money too.
I thought the Copperhop was nectar of the Gods. Sadly, I understand they no longer brew this.

When you rent "Once Were Warriors", rent "Walkabout" or "Rabbit Proof Fence" to get a perspective about how life is in paradise.
Adding a few chaps who were good behind the wheel:
Bruce Mcleran (whose name still lives on in F1)
Denny Hulme
Lorraine Moller is actually one of the most impressive people I've met, in or out running. I also remember meeting John Walker when I was young and marveling that such an extraordinary athlete and international star could just be such a normal and decent regular chap.
i agree with you, they have a beautiful country and a wonderful tradiotion in athletics, but Australia tends to be very racist.
I grew up in N.Z. and live in Australia.
My father was a Pom.(Englishman)
To say Australia is a racist Country is B/shit.
Australia was and is being built by people from many different Backgrounds.
Italians,Greeks,Irish,Scots,Germans.French,Polynesians,
Welsh,Asians,South Americans.Africans,Arabs and many more including a huge influx of New Zealanders.
I came here as an immigrant in 1979 and have been Totally accepted by the Australian people.
There only stipulation has been "Fit in or go Home".
I thank them sincerely for their attitude.
N.Z. however is still the Best country in the World.
I agree with everything you wrote except for the last sentence.Oz is best.
But I love the NZ people, this week they have donated more than a million dollars to the Oz Bush Fire Relief fund.
They would have won the one day cricket series last night against Oz but rain saved us.
I also have grown up in NZ and am currently residing in Aus.
Australia has in its larger centres, a very very diverse range of cultures that live well together. Like all places with a large number of immigrants they experience some difficulty, this is normally due to the imigrants creating trouble between their ethnic groups rather than Aussies troubling them.
The small portion of aussie scum that start trouble on racist grounds, would manifest their resentment of society in other ways if they did'nt hide behind their racism.
There is never a certainty when the Aussies and Kiwis line up for a competition at anything.
I guess it is a little like competing with your Brother or sister.
You always give 100%.

... except NZ is aged 4.5 and AU is 21 million. Somehow the younger sibling is able to compete and BE WORLD RUGBY LEAGUE CHAMPIONS. AHhahahah
A quiet night in Auckland.
