NFL players that competed in track and field

Derick Williams on Penn State ran indoor track for a semester and got beat by a few PSU decathletes, didnt even make it to indoor big tens from what I hear. For how all knowing JoePa supposedly is, he is not a fan of football players competing in track.

ed reed once got 3rd in the jav and 7th in the tj at big east in the dame year.

andre johnson won the 100 once.

santana moss won tj and lj and still holds the record outdoors in the lj.

they had a 4x1 of 3 first round picks and a second round pick (johnson, mcgahee, kelly jennings, roscoe parrish), which got 3rd.

Josh Brown of the St. Louis Rams (formerly of the Seahawks) has to be the most athletic kicker playing.

A two-time Class A state champion in the high jump, he jumped 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) to win the Oklahoma state title in the high jump in 1997 and 1998. He qualified for the state finals in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes.

Most likely in high school most of them were on the track team.

You find out who the real athletes are in track. It is who works the hardest. Face it, to be a successful high school football player really doesn'ttake much. To make it to the next level takes as much hard work as in any sport. But, most of the overweight, out of shape blubber brains who play HS football can rest on the laurels of their few team mates who are real atheltes.

Darwin Walker who plays for the Carolina Panthers was an All-American Shot Putter while at Tennessee.

Just to clarify, Rod Woodson who played football for Purdue Boilermakers and Pittsburgh Steelers will be inducted into the pro football hall of fame in the fall.

He also ran track at Purdue. In 1987 he had 13.29 in the 110 hurdles which tied for 4th best in the world that year.

There's a lot of information out there on this topic. You should start by telling your players that over 50% of all players drafted by NFL teams since 2006 participated in high school track and field.

TJ Duckett also participated in track and field in Michigan where he was a Two-time state Class A shot put champion. He holds the state record in the shot put at 64-7 in track and field. He was also a member of the 400m relay team with a personal-best time of 10.9 in the 100m.

Joe Aska was an NCAA Div. II National Champion in the 60m Dash at the University of Central Oklahoma before going into the NFL.

Michael Bennett set a state record in the state of WISCONSIN for the 100m dash. Yea, he was really good at football..............
