Is Tegenkamp Blood Doping?

Despite the fact that Quacky the Drug Duck may be just some kid good at using the copy function, it does not in any way detract from the allegations, in spite of your repeated attempts to steer public opinion in the other direction.

I remember a certain coaches' manifesto on here a long time ago about "using what is available to improve my athlete's performance." Problem is that it is suspect practice! All the Africans are laughing their asses off at us for doing shit like this. It is sad.

Well the clear was not technically illegal either at the time that Marion Jones and T. Montgomery went through their court proccedings and subsiquent convictions and that didn't save them.

So let me get this straight. You all are condemning him for doing something that is not illegal and doesn't enhance his performance, but instead helps him heal and get back to running sooner?

They're laughing because they know they'll be allowed to get away with it. Sure, a third rate Ethiopian marathoner or top woman might be offered up as a sacrificial lamb once in a while, but they're protected. Lagat was popped, a hokey false positive story hastily concocted, and interested parties even paid his court fees to make sure things didn't get out of hand. Laugh now. But you won't when this all comes out in the end. Hermens, Rosa, Kostre and others keep their athletes clean? Only an idiot believes that.

What is the difference? EPO boosts your ability to transport oxygen to all of your muscles by increasing your total amount of RBCs....that is not happening here. Also, this is healing an injury, not recovering between workouts. Do you understand yet?

enhancing competition performance, enhancing training performance, and enhancing healing are all distinct things. blood doping definitely does the first two, whereas blood spinning probably does the third. or at least teg thinks it does. but so does RICE, good diet, and plenty of sleep.

btw the clear was always illegal, being an anabolic steroid. just not detectable until recently.

Its not blood doping. The old form of blood doping was training at altitude taking your blood out freezing it. You would train at sea level before a competition and then give yourself the old blood. This would give your body the RBC benefit of altitude but let you train at faster paces at sea level. Now people cut that part out and just use erythropoietin (EPO).

What he is doing is borderline. He is using his OWN bodily fluids to increase recovery time. The only benefit is he can have more time training. EPO is mainly for RBC boost and allows you to recover faster, which is not the same at all. However, he's gotten himself to a very thin line. I believe this is much more analogous to the rumor's of Lasse Viren transfusing his own blood, which was legal at the time. Although increased recovery time is not nearly as beneficial as increased RBC count.

muscle healing, muscle recovery - it is all the same.

testosterone and other steroids facilitate muscle recovery, muscle healing, whatever you want to call it. do some searches on wound healing and steroids or wound healing and growth hormone or injury healing - all of these things promote/improve/facilitate recovery.

What is your point? Blood spinning doesn't enhance performance. Testosterone and "other steroids" do.

Follow this logic - Testosterone and EPO are naturally excreted via urination, if I collect all of my urine, spin off the EPO and testosterone, reinject them later, then what you are saying is that since these are my own bodily fluids, this isn't cheating?

Steroids do not enhance performance, they prevent muscle breakdown and enhance recovery.

blood doping can enhance oxygen carrying capacity in the range of 10+%. we're talking a difference between a 14:20 5K and a 13:20 5K. what is talked about in the original post is not something that would have any significant impact on performance of a healthy athlete, whereas blood doping most certainly would.

Seriously how is this any different from intravenous therapy. If an athlete becomes sick they are not permitted to quicken recovery via intravenous.

This is conisdered banned.
