since we are not talking about 10ks the comparision is1 gold, 1 bronzeto1 bronzeAlmost the same.Make it since 1990 and the total stands at 1 bronze to 1 bronze. That is the same. Make it since 19761 gold, 1 bronze for the woman1 gold (assume you remove drug cheats), 1 bronze for the menAgain the same.Change the definition of elite (10 min off wr/15 for woman) and the men dominate. Top 3 finishes at boston/NYC and I expect the men to win based off the early 80s. Make it Mercier conversions and the woman dominate.

There haven't been a ton of elite US woman marathoners. There haven't been a ton of men either. The mens depth is a a lot better once you get out of the top 10-20 or so but the top couple woman have been as competitive as the men.

What the hell are you inhaling? Joan Benoit wins a gold. Deena Kastor wins a bronze. Kara Goucher wins a bronze. Lynn Jennings wins a bronze, Shalane Flanagan wins a bronze. Besides Spence American-born men have done shit at major championships for the past 30 years. The men have been plain NOT competitive.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a GOOD NIGHT!
