I remember when he ran the Penn Relays 10k in '87. He had a bizarre looking mohawk. The announcer said, "In the lead now is Jerry Lawson of BU. He has a PB of 29:xx, and is the _____ conference XC champion. He also has an attractive haircut"

I was just looking up some info on CIM as I couldn't remember the race date. I was also able to find the course record holder, none other than Jerry Lawson. He was one of my favorite runners when I was in high school (late 90s). Cool to see the stories here and see he even popped in to say hello! Awesome guy, awesome runner.
Update on Jerry Lawson.
My dear friend Jerry Lawson's life has changed tremendously in the last two weeks. For those that don't know him he is the ex-American record holder in the marathon at 2:09:35. He was a training animal. Doing things which defied logic; 800miles for August in the heat of Florida! In the last two weeks he has lost the ability to walk and do almost anything for himself due to Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). GBS is a rare condition in which a person's immune system attacks the peripheral nerves. People of all ages can be affected, but it is more common in adults and in males. Most people recover fully. Jerry has spent the last 2 weeks in Baptist Hospital and as of today is being moved to Brooks Rehab in-patient to begin the process of learning how to walk again. I have setup a Gofundme to help offset some of his medical expenses while also help his family while he cannot return to work. Please consider donating as anything helps.
