Saying that Chamberlain or Russell were better than the Dream is just ridicolous.Have you guys ever watched games from the 60s???That was slow-mo basketball compared to the 90s.And yes Stockton is the better playmaker, during his prime he averaged 14 apg playing for a slow half court offense team and he was also a tougher defender than Magic.
Similar arguments for Malone.
ah not russell, jabbar!

Hakeem is nice, but I have a hard time believing he is the best center of all time. In Shaq's third year in the 1995 Finals he almost played as well as Hakeem did who was in the prime of his career. During Shaq's hayday Hakeem would have been regulated to Hack-a-Shaq just like everyone else. He wouldn't have stood a chance with that skinny body keeping Shaq off the low block. But I still take Bill Russell, 11 championships in 13 years.
Malone would be bitch slapped by Tim Duncan. Malone is probably the most overrated PF of the recent generation. He was continually flustered by Dennis Rodman every Finals series with Chicago. He had a hall of fame point guard playing with him and he couldn't get a championship. Tony Parker is nice, including a Finals MVP, but he will never be as good as Stockton. When talking about the best starting 5 of all time, Timmy is the PF.

Kobe will be the greatest NBA player by the time his career is over. People have been saying that for years and I was skeptical, but this year convinced me that Kobe is the best player ever. After Kobe gats a few more NBA titles, everyone else will think so too.
This year convinced you? Did you watch the playoffs where he shot 21/62 the last 3 games with the title on the line? Did you see the two games they played the Cavs where Lebron just shut him down the last quarter as the Cavs won both games? What about this year makes you think Kobe will ever win another championship?
Kobe will win an olympic gold this year since he is riding the coattails of Lebron, Melo, Wade, Howard, and Paul. I have been watching the NBA for 35 years and this young generation is the best to come along since Bird/Magic.
Quit with the Stockton votes for top 5 ever. That is just ludicrous. When Stockton wins a title or two, you can come back here and try to make an argument.

NBA went to shit after the lockout.

I disagree. The greatest team isn't necessarily the 5 best offensive players at each position. If I were picking, I'd focus on defense and building the starting 5 around Jordan. I would not put 5 good scorers that need to dominate the ball on the court at the same time.
SG-Jordan-Easiest choice. He's taking the most shots.
PF-Duncan-No other option at PF in my estimation.
C-Olajuwon-I want his defense, dream shake, superior athleticism and ability to defend all over the court. Shaq/Chamberlain are tempting, but I don't think either player would accept a sidekick role at their prime.
PG-Stockton-Although he's not the offensive force, he's a much better defender than Magic in my opinion. He won't care about rarely shooting. I considered late 90's Kidd, but his shooting was too awful. Chris Paul may be the choice in 5 years.
SF-Bird-Hardest choice for me. I chose him to put a pure point bomber in the starting 5. I could easily be persuaded to go with Pippen (defense) or LBJ 5 years down the road as well.
Kobe Bryant
Magic Johnson
Larry Bird
Karl Malone
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
PG Stockton
SG Jordan
SF Robertson
PF Duncan

That's debateable. In contrast, Magic is at least Stockton's equal as a passer, and he was definitely better at both scoring and rebounding.
Additionally, how many point guards have won multiple titles and mulitiple MVP awards? Don't get me wrong, Stockton was terrific, but better than Magic? No way!

Yes, and I really don't like Kobe, but he's so good on both ends of the floor you have to have him on the court.
Can't go with Kobe. John Havlicek won titles and was capable of playing a team game. Magic Johnson is a better choice as well. Larry Bird wasn't really a guard, but I'd take him over Kobe if I'm looking for a shooter. I agree with Chamberlain over Abdul-Jabbar. Most people on this board are too young to remember, but when Chamberlain was playing to win, there was nobody in his league. He absolutely dominated Abdul-Jabbar (when the latter was in his prime) in the '71 semi-finals, rejecting countless sky hooks and wasting #33 on the boards. The trouble with Chamberlain was that he underperformed for so much of his career. But that one season with the 71 Lakers... never has a center played like that. As someone else pointed out, The Admiral probably belongs somewhere on this list as well.

I would focus on WINNERS. John Stockton never won anything. He was never even in the top 5 mvp voting for one year and now you think he is top 5 all time?
