I think Sully is just fine. He was probably feeling the effects of his 800m two nights prior and his commitment to get the field through 1200m. If he had run his usual hang around in mid-pack and make a big charge for home he would likely have won, or at least made it more of a race down the homestretch. And in Nate's case, he has been chasing standard for a month now and is probably lacking some training. You can only race at a high level for so long before performances start to drop off. I'm sure he will rebound strong in two weeks at the Canadian Olympic Trials.

Taylor ran great... but I can't believe a :57 finish buried everyone so much. Especially Sully & Brannen.
I agree with tnf. Sully was there to keep the pace going through 1200 m. (primarily for Nate), and he did a great job of that. Nate is still coming back from injury, and probably found an opening 800 m. of 1:54 a bit of a shock to his system. As for others in the field, many were just hanging on, after running their fastest ever opening 800 m., and several ran pb's as a result of Ryan and Sully taking the pace through 1200 m. We need to do that more often, in non-championship settings, where place is irrelevant, and effort/time are everything. That's where big improvements can occur.
Nice to see a once local boy runnin' great!!
I would say Milne ran closer to 55 for the last lap--he was still a good bit back of the crowd, and didn't really take off until about 320 from home. Impressive he ran so much of the race in lane 2 as well--can he go faster at Cdn. Nationals??
I hope and believe that Taylor has no thought of running faster at Nationals - cover the top 3, and be there at the finish, even if he runs 3:48. Same with Sully. It's up to the other guys, if they want to run fast at Nationals.

Awesome Job tay tay......keep it up....you deserve it dude
Posting about Rupps mile progression is ridiculous.
Do you expect 1500m runners to PR in the 200m?
If Rupp were a 1500m runner and he ran a 200m or 400m and ran the same time that he did in high school you wouldn't question him.
Rupp has reached his ceiling in the mile that is why he does not progress, not because he isnt as fit as last year.
the difference between the 1500m and the 200m carries the same effect as the 10000m and the 1500m the two are not really comparable.
Watch out on the dance floors in Beijing, Milne is comming to break it down!

Your a "d0uche"!
Scola, you broken 6 minutes yet?
Check out www.guelphrunning.ca for an interview with Taylor Milne.
nice job dude...Davidson would have been tickeled pink!!!You owe it to him and miss sue bud. Good job I will see you in Bejing I feel fit and am ready to clock a 3:35! Scola I heard you ran a 5:59 the other day? Is this true
Davidson wouldn't know what 3:36 meant unless it was a slow 4x4. Now coach B (not barnes) on the other hand would lose his rug and drop his free sandwiches if he saw it with his one good eye. And Dugan says he can run faster if he wanted to. btw, anyone heard from Coach Barnes?
salamone, when did YOU last break 6 min??? haha
Sully will be ready to roll at Canadians, primary goal to make the team, but he will not be worrying at pacing this time. I bet he is looking forward to running a real race, Sully for the win!
Canada is looking good and deep in the men's 1500m, good luck to all, but my money is on Sully-style.

If it is a slow paceat Cdn. Trials, I say Milne dusts Sully over the last 200m. Sully's lost plenty of Nationals over the years in sit and kicks (to Hood, Klassen, McKenzie), and he doesn't have the wheels he once had.
If its a fast one, where the other 4 sub-3:40 guys go for broke and try to run Olympic A standard (3:36.60), then I say Kevin wins, or Taylor just gets him.
Well I guess Sully wins because it is going to be fast.
