I don't know if even a fully healthy Dathan could have stayed with Jorge yesterday.
I dunno, Dathan did run 23:00 for 5 miles in July (at sea-level)...In the middle of 100 mile weeks and no speedwork. I'm not saying he would have for sure, but it would have been close.

How many times are you going to post the same stupid question that has already been answered several times?!!
For team scoring, Severy counts as 12, not 14, because two of the finishers in front of him were Western's 8th and 9th men, and they do not count in traditional xc scoring, where only the top 7 from each team can count. Top five are added to make the scores and top seven are included in the overall results for scoring. Got it?
Scotty ran that fast on one of those hot hot days in Boulder. We were hiding in any shadows we could find. Steve Cambell or Bret Frieth's shadows worked best. The heat may of cost Scotty 45 seconds or so.
So non traditionally, 9 in front of 5 is an ass whooping.

Torres' 1 & 4 mile splits according to the below article were 4:55 & 19:45 (meaning a 4:23 last mile).
The article stated that Torres went out too fast in the 1st mile, according to him and Wetmore. Is the 1st mile super difficult, or could the 4:55 be a misprint?

The first mile has a short, ~100m but very steep hill.
Plus the last "mile" isn't actually a mile, as it's an 8K course. From 4M to the finish, you have approximately .97M (I'm not sure of the exact conversion) AND it's all pretty much flat except for a nice downhill w/ less than a half mile to go.
Western's a great program, but you'd better be ready to get a crew cut and walk a straight line under coach wayne.[quote]903 Pad wrote:
