That's the best color to wear when running dusty trails. I'm referring to ankle length socks.
Just because a few runners wore black socks in the 90's doesn't make it a fad. Black socks are more mainstream now.
A lot of runners where wearing hawaiian shorts in the 80's but that didn't make it a fad.

Long BB shorts was started by UNLV in the 70s.
Salazar wore black socks at Oregon.
Does Tommy Leonard work there anymore? I couldnt make it up this past summer. Falmouth RR weekend is the balls, but I liked it better in the early days when the Casino was the place to play.
But they were called the "Black Socks Brits". Must be black and white photos. It came to mean any gritty, tough runner.
