Attention Footlocker Organizers: Move Delaware to the South!

Are you sure? It's listed as Maryland on the Footlocker site. I could be wrong though; I'm just going by what the FL site says.

Please do not use Salesianum's multiple state titles as a reason why the state should do better then it has.

1. The organizing committees do not encourage or support out of state competitions, that's one reason why Delaware hasn't done much on that scene.

2. Sallies has won so many championships for a few reasons:

1) THEY RECRUIT FROM FOUR STATES!!!

2) They are an all boys catholic school that gets kids who have grown up doing the CYO, are disciplined and have to participate!

3) There are only 2 divisions in delaware, big schools and little schools. Sallies would have been creamed a few times by archmere and tatnall had they raced them in certain years. That would have cut down on those 31 championships.

4) They rotate the state meet, instead of having a neutral recurring site. When it is upstate, it is an advantage to them (as well as other up state teams) because down state (below the canal) has ZERO hills. AND the down state teams are usually division II, so they don't race sallies at states, even if they had teams good enough to beat them.

They have several serious advantages that have contributed greatly to their number of championships.

They've done the miles, put in the hard work have had great coaching, BUT those advantages are the main reason they have so many championships, not just being good. The same could be said of Padua, Ursaline and St. Marks.

The best sallies kid? It's a toss up between Eckstrad (spelling?) and DellePelle. Dom was faster on the track, Eric was faster in cross.

Stern himself may have lived in Potomac, MD, but his school is in D.C.

Seemed timely to bump this thread again and get the movement going again.

Well...

Delaware girls haven't qualified anyone because lately (when they've had very good athletes), they've all been going to NXN.

As for the boys... do you really think that would make things more balanced? Name the last time the Northeast "team" beat the South "team" at Footlocker.

Give up? It was 2007, where the Northeast edged the South 59-64. Since then, the South has been one of the strongest regions, battling it out with the Midwest for that title. That shouldn't be a surprise, of course, given that the Midwest and part of the South are the only regions that doesn't have to be split by NXN/FLN, though that doesn't explain the whole story (the South would still have destroyed the Northeast during that stretch even without Texas).

If anything, maybe Virginia should be added to the Northeast. That might balance things out a bit better. Or maybe it should be Ohio, to give the Midwest a bit of a break since they've probably been the strongest boys+girls combined since NXN started taking individuals.
