First, it's a noon game. There will be no Cubs traffic at the time you're getting down there for the marathon, if you're not already staying in the city.
Second, the only thing I'd worry about along that stretch of Addison are the guy checking you out in your short shorts.
After reading through this thread I have realized people on letsrun will argue and cry about anything. People arguing if others call it "chi-town" - who gives a sh@#!
People claiming they are from Chicago when they are from the suburbs? What does that matter? If a person told you they were from LaGrange, Il - most people would then say Where is that? which that person would say - Just outside of Chicago so what the F$&^ us the difference?
Calling someone from out of town an idiot because he was letting people know there was a home Cubs game so just be aware of it - what is the point? I can't tell you the location of every stadium in the country but it is nice that a person would point it out just in case.

what were we talking about? though i did intend on chitown, in jest, i do now feel i should have written shitown, bc that is all i have gotten since we started. i have gotten some quality info from letsrun threads, for everyone of those there are ten that disintegrate into lord of the flies. i wish we could have a register only portion, with email and name public, so maybe people would be held a little more accountable. i think the weather is important bc the marathon is all about going out at the right pace. if it is muggy maybe 1:14 is better that 1:12, if it is great, bust the 1:12, that sort of thing. i wanted to hear what adjustments people might make, but we obviously won't know until the day of...so forget it.

I live in Chicago and have been running everyday around 8:00am. It hasn't been perfect, but no day in the last 2 weeks would have been miserable for a marathon.
Can't be worse than Boston was.
Looks like the air temp and dew point will be close to each other, which makes for high humidity. Anyone remember the weather at the Shamrock Shuffle this year? I'm thinking it might be like that.
Good thing is that it's looking like 100% cloud cover which is fantastic. The winds look low, too.
As for gear adjustments...I'll just go with a tech t-shirt and my usual shorts, and a head band instead of a ball-cap type hat. If it was going to get really cold the only thing I'd add for a marathon would be gloves and a beanie. Someone on this board once said that gloves and a hat can go a long way to keeping you warm and they were so very right. I guess that'll be moot this year, though.
Anyone getting a 2:55 pace group together? Last year I remember some dudes talking about it.
I ran Chicago last year and if you aren't staying downtown try to take the train if possible. I remember cars packed everywhere trying to drop people off close to the start and add in probably $30 to $40 to park.
Right now I see a high of 73 on Sunday low of 49. It is better than the 84 for Saturday so it might not be horrible.

Cubs play at noon so the only way it is going to bother anyone is if you have to drive north after the race so it isn't going to do anything during the race.
Looks like Sunday will be a great day to enjoy the city afterwards. If you think Chicago is a bad place then go sit back in your hotel room and wait until you leave.
Parking is ridiculous. I parked in a garage at Huron and St. Clair on Saturday for less than three hours and it cost $28. That's only $15 less than we paid for the lunch buffet for two at The Signature Room.
Millennium Park garage is an option. I'm coming from the north burbs, so you can take the Kennedy in (no traffic at 6am) exit at Ohio Street, go east (toward the lake) then right on Michigan Ave, then left on Randolph. Go under to the lower part (rather than to the upper part in the right most lane) and then turn right on Columbus. At this time of the day they won't have closed Columbus Ave yet. Then stay to the right and go down into the garage. Very short walk to the start. Costs $16 (I think) for 12 hours.

It's going to be warmer than last year. Chicago local stations have a forcast of high 60s for Saturday night. If it's cloudy then it's going to be a humid high 60s. If it's sunny then it's going to be a warm high 60s. Either way it's not going to be "ideal", but when is it ever? The leaders will still romp as usual so plan to drink a lot. While the forcast is for low wind, that's out at the airports. It's always windy downtown near the lake....at least every other time I've been to Chicago. Also, it's not like this is a suprise, we've had record temps all across the midwest all summer long. As far as global warming goes...hell, it could be in the 30s next year and I'll call for global cooling!!
