I'll take that one step further Alan, how fast do you think they would have run if they had a hutch, or if they were in the hutch, or if their rabbits were in the hutch, or if the rabbits were the hutch?
An African hutch or a European hutch?

If you picture the streets of Berlin with a Start Line and a Finish Line, and a street curb and spectators on each side of the route, thus forming an enclosure, you have a long, narrow "hutch". Of course, if the rabbits weren't so brave, they might have been chickens, and could have formed a "clutch". Regardless, Geb had the magic "touch".
Thank you very mutch, Butch.

POST OF THE YEAR!!!!!
So I guess it's true that given enough time a monkey at a typewriter would eventually flawlessly type the entire text of the letsrun.com message board.
Doh!
very funny thread indeed!
did malmo get his feewings hurt for being weawy wong?

Ahh.... Rather than arguing rationally, you're using humor as a crutch - a tactic I don't respect very much. This isn't only because it is so often favored by a group I dislike: the Dutch. And, since Malmo insists on a weird pronunciation of 'butch', I plan on arranging a letsrun'putsch'.

I think that's the *only* way to produce the fine literature that is l-run. Though it goes much quicker if you get several hundred monkeys, as we've demonstrated over the years.
Next time we send some space probe with info about us way the hell out there to hopefully be retrieved by an alien race - see, it's like humanity's dating profile; we sure hope those aliens like our pics and that they're cute, horny and hygienic - maybe NASA will pop the full accumulated text of l-run onto an iPod and stick it in that rocket. If nothing else we'll teach those aliens a thing or two about inventing clever pseudonyms and wasting hours a day.

Lance, time for your medication.
This thread smells strangely like the Track and Field News forum with a bunch of people splitting hares...
If you didn't get it, it's cool. If you got it then good for you. If you're pissed because you didn't think of "hutch" first, then please get over it and play nicely.
As you were- smoke 'em if you got 'em
Is Geb the man or what???
the hutch metaphor was indeed strained.
most of you are f***ing pathetic.
Where are these wabbits???
I was also surprised by Rob's contribution.. i wonder how much he banked.. By the way .. .i love rogers running style.. that dude is smooth.
Also, eshetu is an interesting story... guy had a bad injury after doing well locally. he was even kicked out of his club..now that is bad.
he made a big comeback and won the national half marathon champs. kenenisa bekele personally bankrolled him and purchased a home for him.
kenny b is a very generous chap
here i am talking about pace makers when haile broke the wr..
Haile will break this record again. i think he will take it down another 10-15 seconds..
Others in line...
wanjiru, tadesse, kiprop (uganda), sihine...and kenny b
these guys will take it down to 2:03:40's
Geb is too old to run that fast... but there is no doubt in my mind that haile has changed running in a big way. he has single handedly put ethiopia on the map... and started a huge national interest in running.
You may have heard of some bare footed dude named Bikila while you were "discovering" maps...
