First off folks, Ryan Bak is a gentleman, a real good guy. He stayed in state to compete in college and to get a great education. In the process, he ran 4:01 mile, a feat that 99% of us who come to this site would love to have done or to do. I think most would also like to put out a 13:38. But what is really confusing is .... Ryan is one of the few people who is willing to sign his name to his opinion, and his talent, integrity and manhood are all questioned? Whew, this place is getting well past ridiculous at this point.

Justin Gatlin failed a drug test AFTER we all gave him the benefit of the doubt on the first failure. And, HE made the choice to train under the guidance of one of the most notorious drug coaches in the country, a coach who was adept at shifting the blame to others. Seems he's been coaching more than just sprinting. Think about all the clues out there .... those of you who are choosing to defend Gatlin don't seem to bright.

Lots of people think Whetstine is a good guy and has been wronged in this case. Tom Jordan, meet manager of the Prefontaine Classic, said to the AP today that he doubts the allegations against Whetstine. So back off Bak! I have heard many good things about Justin Gatlin too. But Gatlin made one mistake. He worked with Trevor Graham who everyone knows is a drug cheat. As my Mama once told me "if you tell me who your friends are, I will tell you who you are." Gatlin should have stayed with Vince and he would never be in this jam.

And Gatlin probably is guilty, but that doesn't mean Bak knows anything about it.

I think its important for Ryan Bak to understand that this whole thread is a damn joke. There are a few passionate people who wish that Gatlin is innocent and they're taking their frustration out on the voice who spoke in defense of Gaitlin's target. The bottom line is: the posters writing in defense of Gatlin and apparent hatred of Bak are NOT the majority of letsrun posters or the running community as a whole. Most of us appreciate the attitude and dedication Bak brings to the sport.

How do you measure your PR of how many friends you DON'T have?

I guess if you have more friends than me, that means I there are more people who aren't my friend, and I win! And if I have more friends than you, you are one pathetic loser.

Either way, you can suck it long and hard. What's your PR in that?

Ryan's opinion was in defense of a personal friend and not just a random character attack on a world class sprinter. I don't see anywhere that he diplayed his PR's as a license to insult someone, so why the slamming on Bak, D3 runners, his PR's (which aren't too shabby) or Connecticut?
