What would happen if I opened an all-white college?

this is not interesting..... people complain about stuff like this (black churches, clubs, etc.) all the time

personally it doesn't bother me at all even if it is racist. let the minorities have their little groups. what would the world be like if we all got along anyway

I want a scholarship from the United Negro College Fund. Can I get one? Or how about the United Hispanic College Fund (original name), or the Asian student college fund or whatever it is called. I can't? I need to apply for the United White College Fund? Okay...wait a minute...it doesn't exist because it would be deemed racist. Damn, I am screwed.

You really consider this a tough question? This question sounds like something I would have said when I was 14 and thought it was cool to play the contrarian. Just before I took down my Jim Morrison poster. The OP shows no understanding of the way traditionally black colleges operate, or what their original purpose was. The whole post was based on faulty info. It's a non-starter.

There is plenty of interesting debate on both sides of the issues of AA programs and racism/reverse racism in the US, but the OP sure as hell didn't touch on any. Unfortunately, most of the intelligent debate is drowned out by proles who don't want to be burdened with finding the facts and understanding multiple viewpoints. After all, it's their obligation, as Americans, to form and voice their opinion on every subject.

So by using this logic, can you also argue that its up to all white people to be interested in opening up an all white college, and hiring the best professors to come teach there so we can keep the minorities as low as we possibly can?

I mean according to Charles Darwin its the survival of the species. Haven't we gotten to a point where humans are the dominant species on the planet? I would say yes.

Because of this does it mean its time for us to look into ways to establish a dominant "race"? You know, weed out the weaker "races."

As long as the school didn't promote an anti-black or anti-latino or anti-anything else agenda I don't understand what the problem would be.

Jared Diamond said in his book that the only reason humans survived this long was because of Tribal Mentality. With us facing the certain end of the world, what with global warming and avarian flu if I am to understand a lot of the post I read here correctly, shouldn't we be interested in preserving our white "bodily fluids" so to speak.

I think that not only should we open the all white college, but it is essential to our "race" that we do so.

This is what you whiners simply do not get - White is generally used to represent people of European ancestry (English, Irish, Italian, etc...). So while you cannot get a White Student Scholarship, if you are of Italian descent, for example, you could apply for a Sons of Italy scholarship.

Yes, a few more things. First of all, it is only a racial slur if YOU think it brings you down. I couldn't care less if someone called me "whitey". I'm sorry that you find it offensive. There are much more important things in my life to worry about than being called "whitey". Also, how does using the term project a stereotype? I didn't say that you couldn't dance, and I didn't say that you are a nerd. Lastly, what difference does it make what they call the channels? They couldn't call it WET, because there are multiple channels catered to the caucasion demographic, and it would be ridiculous to single out just one and refer to it as White Entertainment Television. I really don't understand your argument. Based on what you quoted of my post, it doesn't make any sense to me.

As far as your idea of "all white" colleges, there is no such thing as an "all-black" college, so your parallel doesn't work. Many traditionally black colleges actively try to increase their Caucasian enrollment. There simply isn't much demand from Whites to attend. A school like Grambling State basically has the same problem a school like Notre Dame has. They both want to increase there "minority" enrollment, but for cultural reasons, there simply are not enough "minority" applicants.

If you are white and can't make it in American white racist society then you are really a loser. Whites have it so easy. Get a job at RW or TFN. That's a place losers and has beens.

Thank you for the support. I am just raising an issue. Yet because I am doing this, again, I am basically being called a racist. The only reason that there is racism in this country is because of tv channels like BET and all black schools.

If a black person calls another black person the n-word, it's okay. If I do it (by the way, I have never used that word in my life), then I am called a racist.

You said it right, though: "White is generally used..." Why is that? Why is it that the same people who wish to be referred to as Hyphenated-Americans do not feel that they owe the same courtesy to "white people"? If you happen to be white, when's the last time a non-white referred to you as a "European-American"? My guess: NEVER. I'm not saying that they should, per se, but shouldn't the courtesy extend to all?

And no: all white people cannot easily pinpoint their ancestry. Many immigrants changed their surnames upon entry to the States--for a variety of reasons. Chief among them: discrimination. Go figure. Also, just because someone did happen to know that they were "Irish", for example, do you really think they're going to be tripping over scholarship opportunities based on that heritage?

You can tell that the OP and a lot of other posters just don't understand the deeper meanings behind the subject they are attempting to address.

In America when some one says white they men people of European descent.

100 years ago only people with Anglo-Saxon blood in them were considered white in America. Italians, Germans, Polish, Greeks, Finish, Russians, etc where not considered white by American scientist and by the American government.

Why aren't Hispanic people considered white? They are just as light skinned as a lot of Italians or Greeks.

Shoot I know some people who call themselves black who are lighter skinned than a lot of people who call themselves white.

The word you should have said instead of race was ethnicity. That's the true battle here not white versus black. It’s white European ethnic groups versus all other ethnic groups in America.

I completely agree with you, and I won't/don't blame minorities for my not getting the scholarships; I would view it as a shortcoming on my part and that I had not put in enough work or done enough. I merely wanted to point out that there are more advantages open for minorities than there are whites. I know I cannot change anything about it, and all I can do is do my best to achieve what I want. But there should be an awareness about such subjects so to prevent reaching a social breaking point.

But to expand on the bolded from your post, I would say that racial desegregation is a major downfall in our society. I honesty do not care about what race a person is, and I have many friends of different race. But I see minorities on my campus only associate with other minority students. It appears as almost a self-segregation, and by segregating themselves, they do not put themselves in a position to succeed. (I freaking hate to use the word "they" in that scenario)

I read every post in this thread. There are a few interesting post in it. The original post wasn't one of them. I explained why. He simply doesn't understand the facts of the topic he wished to pontificate about. There is no such thing as an All-Black college. There are historically black colleges, just as there are historically white colleges, except we just call them universities.

As far as the prole/elitist thing goes, I'm not calling him a commoner. I'm calling him a mindless drone, a la 1984, trumpeting the party line. I'm a proud middle-classer and I find it condescending that you imply that there are only elites and morons. I might say that it is elitist of you.
