Derek Graham ran 3:59 in 1966 twenty years before Peter broke 4 minutes, Paul Lawther ran 3:58 10 years before Peter broke 4 minutes and Mark Kirk ran 3:59 just 5 days before Peter broke 4 minutes.

Pete is the first person to break the 4 minute mile IN northen ireland.

as mentioned not a big fan but pretty impressed she can churn out a 2:50 marathon, this while being the mother of 5 kids, unless hubby does all the footwork ;-)

he pretty much does' liz doesnt have muhc time to train with running a gym. They have a carer who looks after the kids expect eilish who is abit old for that now.

Ive just texted peter and he confirms he was the first in northen ireland to do it

she hasnt trained seroiusly since 1998

I always enjoyed watching Liz McColgan run when she was in her prime. She always seemed to put 100% into her races.

I think she did really well at London this year and I am a fan of her continued commitment to athletics.

She was a great athlete, full of grit. The 'Alfreda Tucker' of marathon running. A better role model in most respects than Paula.

how can you compare paula radcliffe to ronaldo? im presuming your talking about the diving, cheating cristiano rather than the brazilian

i know Tulu, not one of my favourite people though.

We had an athletics club in a town i once lived in. She was employed by that town as a sort of ambassatrice but would she join the club or come and say hi to the kids

in the kids athletics sections? well i'll let you work out the answer for yourselves.....
