Cack is not as tall as the photos suggest. She is no taller than 6'0", but very "Tergatish" in build. Plus she runs with women who are 6-8" shorter, on average.

I agree with you 100%, Frank should have the Gold medal. However to my knowledge Cierpinski was never stripped of his medal so we still have to acknowledge that the finishing order remains the same.

You may be right, but I was at the race as well, and she SEEMED as tall as me. And I am almost 6'3".
What about Buster? He seems like a big dude.
YES, WILT CHAMBERLAIN RAN A MARATHON THE HONALULU MARATHON AND HE RAN IN A 50 MILE RACE AS WELL WHEN HE WAS 60.
ok I'm done screaming, but as a rule of thumb, don't doubt what Wilt Chamberlain has done. He did more distance running as he got older, still played a lot of volleyball and worked out in the gym too.
he also high jumped 6'6 1/4" in College and ran a 49sec 440
he is 7'1 1/4" tall. Possibly the greatest athlete ever.
What was his time in Honalulu?
Article says he "started" a 50 mi race!
Brian Erb is 6'5"
You guys forgot Dutchman Kamiel Maase, 6.3 tall, and possessor of multiple Dutch records including 13.13 5000 up to 2.08 marathon, by way of 27.20 10,000.
Also, our own 'Bob' (Bouabdallah) Tahri, from Metz, France, holder of the Euro 3000 steeple record. He is 1.90cm, which is right around 6.3+ (almost 6.4). When Bob trains in Iten, Kenya, he stays there for about 6 weeks, and does all the basework with the Kenyans, including the long progressive 20km runs, which they do on a 5km loop, starting with the first around 18 mins + and down to around 16 mins or faster for the last one.
Some of you may remember Dan Buntman, the Wisconsin distance ace, and Bay area transplant from the early 80's who used to run and win most of the races in the Bay area. He must have been around 6.4.
Kjell Erik Stahl, the Swedish prolific marathoner, was around 6.2/6.3, and has the most sub 2.20's in any single year. Still running strong at 60 plus.
Yoshinori Takaoka, at 1.86, around 6.1 inch, and multiple Japanese record setter from 13.13 at 5000 up to a 2.06 marathon. He is now retired.
Most tall runners, however, have shorter shelf lives compared with shorter runners. Extra weight and body mass to lug around have (often) an effect on injuries and general recuperation.
Ghost in Saudi,
, apply today, great conditions.
A note about Maase, who was a frequent visitor to the Lornah Kiplagat training centre in Iten, Kenya. During his sojourns there, he went there mainly for a break from the Dutch winter, and not really because of the altitude (2800). He felt, that in his case, altitude training was not really that beneficial to him, and in some instances counter productive. Just as we have seen with Victor Rothlin, the Swiss marathon man, who became sick and injured after prolonged periods at altitude.
The mistake many western runners make at altitude is to try to emulate the Kenyan way of doing things there. Example, progressive runs in the early morning, finishing at 3.10 per km, followd by track session (on cinders) at 10am, like 25 times 400 in an average of 61 seconds. Not everyone is capable of profits from such sessions.
Ghost in Saudi,
, apply today, you will not regret it.

knut kavalheim was pretty tall, 6.5? Rod Dixon was pretty big too 6.3?
Arne Kvalheim was remarkably the same height as Knut.
The answer to the actual question...rather than listing a bunch of guys who are 6'2" when there are clearly others taller is that it is probably Jack Bachelor who was listed at 6'7".
How tall is Kiprop?
Robert Wadlow was 8'11"
Dieter Baumann was 5'11"

I was thinking the same. His height isn't listed on iaaf and I couldn't find it. Has to be 6'+.

Joe Lemay was pretty tall, ran around 2:14 for the marathon
The is the only page on the entire internet where someone has used the word "tergatish".
I thought that was pretty neat :)
How tall is Mottram? How about Puskedra? He seems pretty tall.
