Is there a point to racing a team in the same region. The next meet to see good teams racing should be pre-nats. The ucsb women clearly made a statement last weekend, running this weekend would have been pointless.

Cal sucks, and I'm a Cal fan. We always hear about how "this year they're gonna be good". And they're never good.

man, i was right there, and saw it. that was too bad.
the course was crazy flat. i couldn't believe it. almost felt like UC Riverside. i'd like to see some more hills, altho it was cool having all the spectators around.

Just an observation - in the high school race last year, AJ beat one of the Mercado's by 6 seconds to win in 15:13. This year the winners ran 14:47 and 14:48. Maybe the distance was legit, but it doesn't seem like taking out a hill would account for that much time.
its just insanely flat with hard packed dirt/ grass. felt like a track meet for the first 2 miles.
It was definitely faster this year for whatever reason. Stanford's race reminded me of Regionals last year - just sit in it and don't screw up too badly. My guess is they will be first or second in their race at pre-nats.
the course is very fast. Distance? who knows. But when you run over a fairway and compact dirt you gonna get fast times. They took out all the hills. The only incline was about 20m up a cart path, followed but a 300m gradual downhill that you can fly on.
DAMMIT!!!!! Is that course regulation size or WHAT!!?!?!?!?!
Why are people down on Stanford's performance? A win with a fast time, the team victory, and SEVEN guys within 45 seconds of their fastest. Sounds pretty darn good to me.

why? b/c of jealousy. not good enough to be a part of it, so they bash it. you find this concept all the time in all areas of life.

Look at the course maps that are on Stanford's website. The 5k/6k and 8k's were all pretty much on the flat fairways. They took the hill in the back area completely out of the course. I've read on Dyestatcal that the "5k" measured about 60-80m short... 15-20 seconds quick. The 8k course seemed comparable to Willamette and Sundodger times... not saying that either are accurately measured either.
