I have a couple questions. Why did Princeton stop racing at the Battlefield? Will they ever race there again? Isn't tradition a big part of ivy?--comparing times down through the years and all that. So why the new course?
The Department of Parks and Forests withdrew their permission to use the course.
It was stated that Princeton is one of two great running schools (in the ivys). Is it because they have a lot of forest trails?
Is the other good Ivy school to run for Cornell? Ithaca has to be the prettiest, most woodsy town.
For the record, I too will miss Cack Ferrell. It was fun following her career.
Continue to follow, she's training out in Oregon.
Thank you for replying.
I am glad Cack is still at it. Is she with the Nike team?
Wow, it's pretty wild that a powerful school like Princeton could not get their permit renewed.
One last question: I am aware that New Jersey has a lot of wooded area, which seems like an oxymoron because, well, because it's New Jersey. Does Princeton have a lot of wooded trails to run?
Thanks.

I believe so.

Well it's the state agency that runs it and they changed their policy on use of the park a couple of years ago. The new course is on university property and is more spectator friendly since the runners don't disappear into the trees for long periods, it's similar to Lehigh in that respect.

Sure, the D&R towpath goes right past campus and is tree-lined, then there's the Institute woods next to campus, Mountain Lakes nature preserve is within a mile of campus etc.
