You are so right, bruh! I ran countless striders everyday and it all seems like such a waste of time. I should’ve done more Zone 2 runs, tempos, and cold plunges. I wasted my career. 🥲
Cold plunges? I've been having my athletes do coal plunges. Am I doing it wrong? If so, what am I supposed to do with all these leftover charcoal briquettes?

The instructions are comfortably fast, but not so fast that they are tying up or struggling by the end of the 100.
For the sprints, we're going max effort. I'll get a 10m fly time on all my kids next week and then for the rest of the summer, the kids will run sprints with people who tested out at the same speed as them on the fly time. We do this thing where we race, but the catch is that the winner of the race has to start 1m back for the next rep. This keeps it fresh and makes sure we're getting really good efforts for those sprints. We usually go only 40-50m for those and take 3-4 min recovery between reps.
For the hill sprints, we run our stadium ramp, which is about 35m long. For those, we focus more on form (Good drive off the back foot, tall posture, knee lift, etc....almost a bound, but not quite, just big boucy powerful step). Those are a little more of a strength workout where stried mechanics are overexaggerated and the paramount focus.
Truly don’t understand all the outrage like yes strides have a purpose and place in your training but I think true speed/sprint training has to take precedent over that. I think 2-3 true sprint days of flying sprints and hill sprints is infinitely more valuable than just loosening up the legs with strides. If your worried from a CNS standpoint of fatigue than just don’t do strides that day and just have an easy run

There's nothing fatigue-inducing from doing a few strides. If anything, it's relaxing.

x1000. If stride(r)s are tiring, you're doing them wrong, i.e., too fast.
From what I've read, a relatively easy gain is to do at least one long stride before a race, around 200m at goal race pace. As a very gotten older, I've found even this isn't t enough to get my body primed for a race. I now do 3x1 minutes at race pace during the warm up (I don't run any race less than 5k) to get me ready

he was not great until having a year under Herriman. He went to a different school 9th and 10th grade. I imagine the duration of his strides are a very small part of whatever formula he switched to at Herriman HS.
But does the injury prone hobby jogger dad need to do them? Maybe not.
I'll bet they would help you run better and maybe be less injury prone.
It is not going to make a significant material difference for most hobby jogger dad's running 5K in 20mins or whatever. I think you underestimate how easy it is to get injured if you are a busy working and sleep deprived parent in their 30s or 40s.
For more competitive runners then of course they are good - that's why I said strides are not dead.
