Big men live for big moments.
Big men live for big moments.
I’ve been saying this. Murphy Smith is THAT GUY. But I gotta say, I can’t say I’m surprised with this performance. He’s put in the work, the miles, and the sacrifice. Much much much deserved. And it’s funny that all you guys seem to have an opinion on this guy’s running/navy career. At the end of the day there’s only 1 underlying truth. God has a plan for this young talent. Perhaps it’s to become an Olympic runner, or it could even be for him to become the Chief of Naval Operations. Whatever it may be, Murphy will believe in this plan and see it through. I know this because there is nobody as tenacious, focused, and faithful as this young sailor. And there is no obstacle that may stand in his way.
This being said, there is one thing that strikes fear into Murphy’s heart. That’s a Patapsco long run Saturday morning during a long weekend. Lollll
Cheers,

Some of us are fans! It’s always a treat to see midshipmen continue their success well beyond the Academy.
He made a commitment to serve in the Navy as part of taxpayer supported education at the Naval Academy. If he wants to pursue running full-time he can do it once his service requirement is met.
Does his running not promote the excellent individuals our military wants?

(1) there is no god
(2) long runs on Saturday?
(3) you guys drove up to Patapso? Wow. Most everyone just ran the long run from the yard out to bay ridge.
(4) Lanzel seems like he actually understands the ins and outs of running and training, unlike you know who
Phil Camp ran 2:13 in the 70s while in the Navy. A lot of his training was on flight decks of aircraft carriers. But if this guy is going to be on submarines I don't know how he'd get to train.

Article and photo of Camp running laps on that aircraft carrier.
To the third photo. Very cool.
