Niwot’s 1200 leg probably had a few more seconds there, got forced all the way out to lane 4 about 100m in to avoid a collision on the turn, which definitely cost some ground and rhythm early.
Obviously already impressive but the splits are probably the most impressive part.
Rocco: 1:03.59 1:03.86 1:01.65 56.85
Quinn: 1:03.42 1:03.76 1:02.11 56.66
Hunter: 1:04.58 1:03.63 1:02.28 58.2
Jude: 1:03.10 1:04.93 1:02.86 1:00.88
What are the odds they have two runners under 4 this year?
Brain fog here. Tell me what I'm missing. Rocco's last 400 in 56.85 and Quinn's in 56.66. But looking at the race, didn't Rocco have a faster last lap? Please forgive my mental confusion--I've only had one cocktail, I swear.

I probably copied one of those splits wrong when I was writing this post. Whoops lol
is Northfield 5A? Race between Hassan, Sullivan, Culpepper and Adams at State is going to be insane if so
As stated earlier, Niwot is still 4A for track. Also Abdinasir Hassan cannot compete for Northfield this season as he was at Rangeview last year as a freshman and has to sit out the seasons (sat out XC in the fall as well). His brother Ayuub is a junior at Northfield though and was 6th in the 5A 800 and 7th in the 1600 while anchoring Northfield's winning 4x800 last year. So, he's likely to do some damage again this year while the two of them on the same team finally next year could be impressive.
Yeah reminder that the newbury park kids weren’t some absolutely insane genetic anomaly, and we’ll keep seeing this kinda thing. Ritzenhein 4:11 freshman lol these kids are monsters, and the top 2 are probably close to 4:01 shape right now, in April.
Colin Sahlman and Nico Young are off the charts, talents. Of course they were going to be great in HS. A guy that can set a 12:45 AR is insanely talented.
My goodness. What is the coach doing at Niwot that every other coach in the country is doing wrong? There are amazing high school coaches out there who have only had one kid that fast in their entire career!
Christensen has been at Niwot since 2016 and the guys he has this year are 1-4 on the all-time Niwot 1500/1600m list. During the ten years prior to this year, he’s had just one guy under 4:10. Maybe this year’s group of great runners is just luck of the draw?
Heck this group could shoot for 4 guys under 4:00. It's only early April and 4:11 to 4:00 in June not impossible if you have training partners like this!
Not saying they will do it, but that's convo and hope I would be having with my teammates.
Obviously also some great relay potential.
Are you referring to Jude Ritzenheim? 4:11 from indoors to 4:00 outdoors during the same season is not going to happen. Has there even been a sophomore that broke 4:00? The fast training partners won’t make any difference. If anything, he might burn himself out by trying to keep up. If you check the lists, superstar HSers, including Ryun, Webb, Kessler and Lutkenhaus, had no one to train with.

He didn’t run 4:11 indoors, he ran 4:19. And I’d agree Ritz Jr isn’t breaking 4:00 this year, but he might get down to 4:05. His progression has been very steady if you go all the way back to middle school.
I think they know what they are doing. But he’s definitely going to be more of a 3200/5k star like his dad. He might beat his dad’s 4:08/8:44 1600/3200 high school PRs this year given the opportunities to race at sea level. Those are good targets.

He ran 4:19 indoors then 4:10 at 5200.’ Running a 4:10 at that altitude is much different than running it at sea level. He’s already made a huge jump from indoors. If he gets the right sea level opportunity he should be able to rub a 4:05. I don’t think he will break 4 this year. There’s a Colorado sophomore who did run 4:01 for the full mile at Nike Indoor and could absolutely do it this spring. It’s more challenging for Colorado runners to break 4 since they have to fly to a meet for those opportunities, but there’s an incredible depth of talent from many schools in this state right now.
I was actually wondering about his also and looked closer, Sullivan split is wrong looking at the video. He was more like a 57 last lap, wonder how that go off

Leo Young 3:35 1500m as a college sophomore Nico Young 12:45 5000m Diamond League winner Colin Sahlman 1:44 indoor 800m beating 2 former World Champions Hoppel and Brazier / 3:33 1500m as a college sophomore.
Apparently they're not genetics anomalies. Even two of the kids in that Niwot group have fathers who were US champions multiple times. The stuff that gets upvoted on here makes me cringe sometimes.
Great group and great school nonetheless. That Colorado group of Hassan, Sullivan, and Ritz is going to be crazy next year.
