Obviously the title is hyperbolic, but the Kerr haters need to start preparing themselves for some uncomfortable conversations about where Kerr will be in the all time rankings as a 1500-3000m runner when he retires.
He’s stacking up world championship and Olympic medals at an insanely impressive rate and doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all.
Uncomfortable? Lol. He'll be remembered as a good contender, sure. But also as a loudmouth beta goof. He's the Ryan Lochte of track, only without any Olympic gold medals. None of this is uncomfortable.
Is it time to give Mackey his flowers as an officially elite coach?
Obviously they are frustratingly careful and infrequent with their racing selection but he is so incredibly prepared and on his A game nearly every time he races, and has been for the last few years.
Meanwhile Mr Olympic champ doesn't have a world title. You guys can't say anything Olympic title is way better than a world title and you especially can't if the Olympic champ couldn't even win 1 world title.
Kerr ran that very smart - looked like he was always aware of the space around him, and the chess moves required to take the lead.
You gotta hand it to him - he manshamed Hocker.
Ok, fanboy. The fact is this: Josh Kerr is simply a fluffer for Olympic Gold Medalists. There are races that matter, and then there are the races Kerr wins. There are moments of greatness, and then there's Kerr's moments. At best, Kerr can be said to be an exceptional fluffer, he's good on his knees getting the Champions warmed up.
Fair point his medal haul is impressive but his personality definitely makes it easy to critique without feeling conflicted.
On a more pertinent note, can US athletics or whatever your governing body is called not put out a memo to their coaches to emphasise good manners on the international stage by their athletes? Most athletes now shake hands at the end of their races or fist bump or hug, or acknowledge. Cole Hocker barely shook Josh Kerr's hand at the end of the race yesterday and came across as rude. Athing Mu used to stomp off as soon as she finished a heat. Its always American athletes. You are getting a reputation for being rude. The Cole Hocker made the sleeping gesture when he won Millrose, compalined when Josh Kerr mirrored it and wrongly suggested that Kerr should get his own gesture, when it wasn't even Hocker's to own.
I dare say that Kerr and Ingebrigsten's supposed "personalities" are based on developing tactics for dealing with American athletes's arrogance.
And who on earth is Nguse's coach? Can someone help this supremely talented athlete to drive with his arms so he finished more powerfully, rather than holding them across his body like a jogger at park run?
I’m not a big Kerr fan but I guess between Hocker’s finishing line sleeping references and Kerr’s bold bragging personality it keeps things entertaining. Reminds me of the elite sprinters of yesteryear. Great job by Kerr for a well executed race.
You have it backwards. Jakob has a lot of work to do to get to the level that Kerr's at now. Kerr is Champion of the World. Jakob wasn't even in the race.
Reading comprehension skills as strong as Jakob's busted Achilles right here mate.
Anyway, to the guy who said Kerr has skipped all those Euros: he's older than Jakob and skipped all those Euros that Jakob has won, and still has fewer global outdoor titles/medals than him. That just cuts further against Kerr tbh.
Regardless, I think having Kerr and Hocker trying to chase down Jakob's legacy and times (while Ingerbrigtsen rehabs) is very good for the sport.
Ingerbrigtsen??? Is it very difficult to spell names correct???

How does every color medal beat Two Golds + 3 Silvers? Is this a rainbow contest?

In the Mu v Keely thread apparently it does lmao. Can't make this up with you guys.
