I reject the premise that anyone should have social media for any reason.
You don't understand. You don't HAVE to use Instagram as social media. You can just follow your favorite runners and use Instagram as a news source. You DON'T have to post anything or interact with anyone.
You can continue lying to yourself that you “just have (social media app) as a ‘news source’” and telling yourself that you aren’t addicted and you somehow use it in a way that isn’t extremely damaging to your overall well-being, but the honest, critical thinkers in this thread are telling you that it is a very, very bad idea to use it at all, for any reason.
There is no possible benefit you could be gaining or potentially gain from it that justifies using it at all. That’s the cold hard trut; and if it sounds like an extreme reaction, that’s because it’s an extreme problem that has decimated our society, communities and entire world to a horrific extent.
KS is essentially done as an elite runner. Her breakthroughs with Shelby were suspicious but she had a nice career and I am sure she is a great person.
Did you think Emily Infeld was done before she went back to Milt?

I never gave it any thought. I don’t follow the women as much but I followed KS a bit because I sort of knew someone in her family. She comes from a great family to my knowledge.

I reject the premise that anyone should have social media for any reason. It's societal poison.
You are not wrong but is this platform considered social media? It does have a toxic element at times.
LRC is a true old-school forum. The likes of which pre-date the sites that would be coined as social media by a decade+
The toxicity that comes with anonymity is inherent to the medium, but what social media did differently was allow the lack of etiquette to break containment and enter the real world.
Sorry but I'm not in the mood to play nice here. Karissa is very suspicious. If we're going to roll our eyes at performances of foreign runners, let's call out our own.
In 2020 when Shelby ran 14:23, Karissa was nipping at her heels running 14:26. then in 2021 when Shelby was caught and banned, Karissa never came close to running that time again despite several of those years being her prime years.
Shelby and Karissa were on a different level than the other BTC women when they were partnered up. They had been quotes as doing more together than even the other professionals and Olympians on the team.
Really? Karissa is sis you say? Andrews has done nothing her energy career until some bogus breakthrough over a decade after NCAA. Let’s talk about that obvious Sus. Even looks different. Another year or so to go - things getting desperate

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You made a very crazy jump from "one guy uses Instagram as a news source" to the "entire world is being decimated to a horrific extent". You should learn not to make crazy assumptions.
It IS in fact possible to use Instagram only as a track and field news source, and that's exactly how I use it. I don't post anything, I don't have any followers, and I don't use Instagram to communicate with anyone. All I do is follow a few dozen runners that I'm interested in, and I check Instagram once a week to see what they're up to. It takes less than 5 minutes. (About the same amount of time it took you to write that insane post.)
Instagram is especially helpful in keeping up with non-famous runners, because very little information is posted online about them anywhere else except for what they post on their own Instagram.
So stop already with your stupid ramblings about somehow I'm "addicted" or that I'm being "extremely damaged" or that keeping up with a few runners is "a very, very bad idea."
Yes, it IS possible to use Instagram just as a news source.

I'm fairly neutral in all this, but isn't it accurate that Karissa dealt with a lot of injury problems after 2020? I don't recall the year, but I think she tried an insane triple or something at USAa and tore her calf in one of the races. I apologize if I don't have this quite right (maybe it was only a 10k/1500 or 5k/1500 double) or I'm getting this mixed up with someone else. But I definitely remember injuries being a recurring problem for her. On top of that she lost Shelby as a training partner to push her. Lastly that 14:26 race was a perfectly orchestrated time trial, so it's not surprising that it stands out as a bit of an outlier vs. other years when there was no perfect time trial.

Yes, Karissa had a lot of injuries after Worlds 2022. That readily explains her poor 2023 of course, but not 2021 and 2022.
Also of course, athletes take anabolic steroids as injury prevention and to heal small problems before they get too serious (among other things). If a natural 14:50 runner trains like a 14:30 runner, that complicates matter further.
And getting paced to a 14:30 is a lot easier than to a 14:10. It's not like one wins a lot of races with a 14:50.

Wasn't 2021 an Olympic year? And 2022 a world championship year? Probably more focus on tactical, championship style racing and less on perfectly calibrated time trials, which was the setup for her 14:26 during COVID in 2020. The fact that she still ran in the 14:30s in recent years makes her 14:26 even less suspect.
