Stop hating Jews like Seinfeld. You don't hate Russian Chistians so why hate Russian Jews who are European bros with no trace of Middle Easterns in the least.
I bought a used bike from the actor Michael Richards that played Kramer. Seinfeld had been on for 2 years and I had no idea who he was. He did look very athletic and not shabby. He had an apartment dedicated to his sports gear like bikes, kayaks, running shoes, climbing gear etc. He kept mentioning that he was an actor and before I left with the bike I asked Michael what kind of acting he does. He says ,'I'm on Seinfeld'. I told him I've heard of it, but I haven't watched it yet, so I'll check it out. Very funny and became a fan.
Different times. 90s Midwest girl would go out on a Saturday night with a turtleneck underneath a big sweatshirt with a thin gold chain hanging over the sweatshirt. She had no tattoos - only people in the circus covered themselves with tattoos. A guy trying to look good might have ill-fitting shirt tucked into pleated pants with a braided leather belt. He also had no tattoos. Language was a lot different as well and many words from that time have disappeared, just as "mid" the way you are using it will be a thing you will laugh about one day.
people of other periods never look as attractive as current people. Look at 50s movie stars. They just aren't that attractive. Except for Grace Kelly. Good lord, that one. In the 90s I remember thinking Seinfeld's girlfriends were always gorgeous.
and
social media has made today's women game up a huge amount. women compete against each other in looks and social media has made that competition more intense and taught them how to up their looks. Makeup tutorials, workout routines, manner, grace, etc. I think today's women are in absolute terms more physically attractive than in prevous periods
a girl in des moines now can learn to act and look like a model in monaco. This is new.
By today's standards, 1990s urban America was svelte and healthy.
Agreed. No food culture, and next to no coffee shops, so no daily calorie bombs. For many young people, eating out was a special occasion, like something you might save for a birthday, not something you would do on a random day between classes. Instead, you solely lived on stuff like packets of Lipton noodles and ramen. I knew a guy who ate so poorly he actually got scurvy, like a pirate. So maybe not all entirely healthy, but not a ton of young people were heavy back then. 90s young people would be shocked by how big young people are today.
I started watching the old sitcom "Seinfeld" recently. Good show and a lot of the comedy holds up even for my generation. But I can't help but notice that everyone on the show looks 10 years older than the age they're supposed to be and absolutely no one is attractive. Even when a girl Jerry or George is dating is supposed to be hot, they're really just mid.
Were people in the 90s just not very attractive, or is this just a function of older film production technology?
