In the case of Riggins, Chamberlain, Schweizer and Lemngole, those are simply their PRs. Hedengren ran 4:23.5 last June, so a 4:24 seed is “conservative.”
4:23.5 is Hedengren's outdoor PB. Her indoor PB of 4:26.14 was scored higher by WA. I'd call a 4:24.00 seed "fair."
It is not unusual for athletes to run faster times on the BU track than what they run outdoors later in the season.
So the camera will be isolated on ESP and we don't get to see the battle between the 4:2x collegians. If we are lucky we see them cross the line. It sucks when a top pro gets in a college race.
Wes Porter 3:50.37, great for him nice guy. Looks to me like Sahlman might be best served sticking with the 800. He got stuck way back in that one, but tactically navigating the pack looked like a grind. UVA guy won the 800 from the 4th heat too in the 800 though nothing crazy fast. Penn State's Allon Clay paced this in 2:21 after a 2:17 1,000 win earlier.
Interesting that Sahlman can't seem to figure out the mile tactically
You’d think with his 400-800 prowess/wheels he could either uncork a big kick to overcome bad positioning, or just start well enough to not need that. But it’s a struggle and he doesn’t move up efficiently like a Nathan Green does for instance. In the 800 he can rally from the back and be dangerous especially if it’s fast.

Sahlmans best tactical race ever. a messy, bumpy race, couldn't find his position - a year ago Sahlman gets kicked to the back and finishes way off the pack. but now he gathers himself, finds some seams and finishes at 3:52, only losing to the pros. these are exactly the kind of races he needs to be in if he wants to win an NCAA title.

They say Elle SP is now in the mile.
And, they (FloTrack announcers) say ESP is targeting a 4:14 mile -- which would break her own 4:16.41 AR and be damn close to Genzebe Dibaba's 4:13.31 WR.
Post above mentioned the camera will be on her and may not show everyone else as they finish -- all likely with pr's.
Well, at least this is one race Jane Hedengren will be able to draft off others and not have to lead the whole way.
Pretty much expecting a new NCAA record from Jane . . . with a sub-4:20 possible.
Good to see Elliott Cook put up another good time. He's typically good in tactical races when he's in shape. I expect he'll be one of the top guys in NCAAs indoors and outdoors this season.

JG on today's LRC podcast stated ESP has requested 2:07 thru 800/880.
