It's classic tendinitis / tendonosis. He is probably absolutely fine, but sometimes feels a twinge in the tendon so he is being over cautious. The thing is this could go on for years.
I don’t know if he is injured, but if he is, rather than from current training, the cumulative effect from his early age high volume might have finally caught up to him and his injuries will be reoccurring from now on.

We will never see 2021-2024 Jakob Ingebrigtsen ever again. He had a great career. If I had to rank him in a greatest distance runners of all time list, I would place him around 15th.

In recent weeks, he has posted several photos of his Coros watch after workouts, but only shows average and maximum heart rate. It’s fairly obvious this data comes from elliptical sessions rather than running.
Maybe this is because he's on the treadmill, so the watch distance would be off.

Jakob went to South Africa a few weeks ago but was only there for about a week. Traveling from Norway to South Africa takes roughly 24 hours, so it’s unlikely he would make that trip if he planned such a short stay.

very well could be injured again or the original injury has failed to fully resolve. regardless, his running career has jumped the shark. his peak racing days are behind him. at the elite level, any injury such as he has a good chance of knocking you off your game, maybe just by a fraction and your just never the same. i have always been of the opinion that, generally, elite racing wise, you have about 5 top years, give or take.
That’s why Kipchoge (and to a lesser extent Bekele) are real enigmas. Geb had great longevity too. I don’t see any other current candidates, maybe Cheptegei if his marathon career picks up.

His brothers' progression has always made me worried about what would happen with him, given they peaked at young-ish ages and weren't able to stay competitive at the ages that should have been their primes. Seems to unfortunately be turning into a consistent trend with his family, though hopefully he's able to reverse it.

There is a long list of people with global medals and WR(especially when like Jacob they are indoors or rarely run distances). They all can't be top 10.
There are a half dozen guys who are clearly superior, a half dozen you can argue either way, and a half dozen you can make arguments about being better(how do you value things like WR and the lack of global Champaign the 60-80s). One more cycle of dominance would have moved Jacob in to the all time great discussion.
Kipchoge and Bekele did have really long careers, but their top notch careers on the track were no more than six years long. Bekele won track medals over a six year span (7 seasons), from 2003 through 2009 (8 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze, plus World Indoor gold), while his xc medals were over an seven year span, 2001 through 2008, 12 golds and 1 silver). When he shifted to marathon, it was after struggling with speedwork because of achilles issues. His longevity was amazing, winning xc medals in 2001 and running 2:01:41 at Berlin in 2019. Kipchoge won gold over Bekele and El G in 2003 in the 5000m (only three other track medals outdoors, one bronze indoors), two marathon Olympic golds in 2016 and 2021, 18 years after his world outdoor gold, and only one xc medal in U20, when he may have been too old already. But on the track he could only really compete with the best from 2003 through 2007 or so, and achilles issues led him to go to the marathon when he was still young in track years.
He indeed did. If this is the end, I’d rank him around 10th. Can’t put him above runners like Farah, Coe, Gebreselassie, Kipchoge, El G, and Bekele. Zatopek and Snell are dated but likely greater. Hard to put him above morceli but that’s it.
