An underrated aspect of Brady’s greatness was that his contracts were perpetually well below market value. He understood that long term, he’d do better taking a few less dollars.
If Mahomes was satisfied at ~$30 mill a year, he’d have better o-line and receivers and might not be hurt. Bill had no consistent success anywhere without Brady. Reid is by far a better coach, Shula was too, the cheater up in Denver probably better, Bill Walsh, probably a dozen more. Bill was good and delivered when given the best team and probably should eventually get in but he wasn’t the best ever and now he isn’t even good. He’s a shell of what he once was and completely bought into his own hype.
Seriously, Bill is a legendary defensive coach according to all experts (except you). Yes with great QB and a great coach you can go to 8 SBs (+2 before brady)! If it was just one or the other, then every great QB ever would have gone to 8 SBs? Patty Mahomey is a great QB will he get 8 SBS? Marino was great does he have 8 SBs? And every great coach would have 8 SBs. Its clear its both of them. Coaches don't look great without great QBs and vice versa. Brady didn't play defense BTW. Bill had to re load darn near every year to keep winning. Only a few of those SB wins was a premium D.

Bill WILL be going into the HOF, just as a first ballot winner. Now, both he and Tom Brady have their share of detractors because a) it's easy to hate multi-winners, and b) certain scandals are not soon forgotten by the high and mighty voters (and who among them is a saint, I wonder?). However, this initial snub is only a temporary snub, and to have voted down Bill's election this time is simply a begrudgingly obvious way of sticking the knife in and twisting it. But the snub won't last forever. The point is made with this slap on the wrist! Although Tom doesn't have Bill's demeanor (we all looked forward to post-game Belichick sound bites), or, currently I think, a purty young thang hanging onto his arm (or other body parts), I would not be surprised if he, too, gets the first-time snub when he's eligible.
look, i get the "tom brady" argument, but he has the most head coach rings ever, 6, and that includes stuff like that atlanta comeback. plus he has another 2 rings as DC for the giants under parcells, which the critics forget.
i think the argument goes he got nothing done at cleveland, but his last year (1994) they were in the playoffs, beat the team that hired him (pats) in round 1, and that franchise is such a mess they've done it just 3 more times in 30 years.
or that his last years in NE were meh, but he got them back in the playoffs one of those years with mac jones.
or that his college team sucks, but that's one year.

i think the fairer argument is more like, he "got old." if you have eyepopping career numbers they don't usually kick your butt for staying a little too long. landry is in the hall even though the cowgirls fell off at the end, and his exit paved the way for the return to success with jimmy johnson.

dan marino made the super bowl ONE time. montana had some but not constant success. they are overstating how much a top QB alone gets it done.

maybe i should rephrase. as good as montana is, he played from 1979-1994 and he won 4 times. brady played 20-odd years to get his 7. he could only do it once with TB. rodgers hasn't won with the steelers. some is age but some is it takes a team. if they don't put enough quality personnel and coaching around you, your career looks more like fouts or marino.

Damn man, I don’t like him or the Patriots but how do you think you win six Super Bowls in the modern era? With an average quarterback? Hell no! In the modern era, you don’t come close to Dynasty status without the greatest passer of all time. Yeah OK he never won a Super Bowl without Brady. But it’s not like Brady was covering up for Belichick‘s incompetence or something. You gotta have a great team to get there, and Belichick did it many times.
