Can you imagine how smooth and controlled a 58 opening 400 will look for her, practically walking
I have no doubt she will be smooth and under control at 400 in 58. But how will she be at 600 in 128? At 700 in 143? In the 800, those 100s become miles

If she runs around 2:00 that will be a great debut. I'm interested to see how she handles the bumping & positioning, since she is used to running in lanes. Yes, she runs lots of relays, but even then there's rarely a crowd she has to contend with.
I'm sure she has done some time trials to know where she is at for this event. I don't think it's going to go the way they think it will go. Prediction of 2:10 for me.
People are too optimistic. I wouldn’t be surprised with anything 2:00.00 to 2:03.00. Sub 2 in her first race, indoors, would be INSANE. I’ll say 2:01.28. If she does 3 or 4 total races indoors, I’ll predict a 1:59 by the last race, and 1:57 outdoors by the end of the year. Jmo! REALLY curious to see how she does and I am rooting for her!!!

I guess you think she will never win anything in the 800m then

What are you talking about, 1:57 in her opening season and you think that means she woudn't ever win anything?
Phil Knight should have his $BILLION Nike Icon.LA Film Studio make a documentary about Femke Bol.
Its interesting to see how Bol will do in the 800, but basically she is the 2nd best 400 hurdler in the world, who is very good in the 400 but unlikely to medalShe probably is moving because Mclaughlin is better at 400 and 400 hurdles and she would not likely medal at 400 with Paulino and Naser, she is good at 400, but likely somehere between 4-10 in the world at her best she could be 4th on a regular day any where in the top 10 but not top 3
This is a post which makes sense; if she runs 2:02 or better that would be a very nice opener and a nice spot from which to build. These people thinking she’s going to open in a time which won worlds last year (and the same people who will be pronouncing her a “failure” and saying she should stick to the 400h if she fails to do so) are just fools.
I think she'll probably be right around 2-flat. Something I was reminded of is that Britton Wilson (also primarily 400/400h specialist rn) stepped up to run one 2:02 indoor 800 in 2023 while Arkansas. I'm assuming Britton didn't train much for that event specifically, so I expect Femke to run even a little faster than 2:02 given her recent focus on the event.
I think it would be silly if she opened in 58 at 400 and partially sacrificed her greatest strength. Here is a Dutch indoor heat a couple of years ago in which she cruised around in 52.22. This is why Bol says that training for the 800 can feel like running backwards:
