Had a sixth grader show up after school wanting to write for the school newspaper. Sixth grade is a little young to be doing journalism but he seemed serious and motivated. Told him to go interview Mr. Presto, our new math teacher. "Find out what he's been up to these past 23 years," I told him.
Kid did a good job, wrote it up well. Told him he needed to write a header, a headline that goes atop the story. He sits down at computer and types "Abracadabra! It's Mr. Presto!" like he's been waiting to write this all his life.
That was way brilliant and even cute.
