Where would Cam Myers have finished at NCAA XC?

Isn't Morgan coming from a long bout of injuries? I don't think he's in the 13:00 shape he was in 18 months ago. He got beat by Seth O'Donnell, whose fastest 5000 is 13:14.

The top four at NCAAs this year were Habtom Samuel, Rocky Hansen, Solomon Kipchoge, and Brian Musau. Cam wouldn't have beaten those guys.

The competition at NCAAs was tougher, and they ran over a minute faster.

How about the fact that he ran his 800m pr in January 2024 when his 1500m pr was 3:33.26?

Another foreigner, how would Kipchoge do.

This kid ran 3:29 at age 19. That is unheard of unless your name is Jakob or you are east African. At least give him a few more years before telling him to move up to an event he has almost no experience at.

Cooper Teare’s first year out of the NCAA, he ran away from Anthony Rotich to win the USA XC title, and Rotich was right around 20th at world XC. At that same meet, the top Australian (a momentum-filled Haftu Strinzos) and the top NCAA athlete Aaron Las Heras were 17th and 22nd at world XC. LasHeras was 18th at the NCAA meet (fascinating), where Blanks ran away from Samuel late. Nico Young and Drew Bosley were usually about 30 seconds ahead of LasHeras that whole season at NAU, and they both lost to Samuel.

Samuel is worlds better, and I don’t think Myers would sniff him. If he came from the cheap seats the last 2k, he’d have probably been mirroring Hansen (right in front of or right behind). But Samuel wasn’t pushed to the limit; I don’t think there is a world where Samuel would’ve been zapped enough to have lost to a charging Myers. I think Samuel had another 20-30 seconds improvement if he were pushed from line to line.

Because Athletics Australia is silly.

Myers is 19 years/5 months so he’d be a younger Sophomore or an old Freshman. Of course in the new NCAA ages are insane and he’d be younger than pretty much everyone outside of Tayvon Kitchen in the All-American mix.

Hansen’s PBs are influenced by being a collegian. He ran 13:07, where he pushed the pace after the rabbits dropped and died quite a bit the last 400. His 1500m PB (early season outdoor meet I think) is surpassed by a 3:50-low DMR carry which was not evenly run and included him beating some of the NCAAs best on the anchor. Peaked, he can probably run 3:34-5 at least.

Im not really sure Myers is primarily a 1500 guy/miler. That’s certainly the race he runs most, but I could see him excelling at the 3000 just as much.

With all due respect to Samuel, Jakob would crush the field.

I think Myers would be top 10 at worst, top 3 at best. I'm not really willing to bet against a 3:29 guy.

Didn't he run 1:47 in December of the year before? He's still 19, could obviously go much faster than that.

329 1500 at 18 years old. the other distances are teeny bopper times of zero relevance., except to say that hes as fast as Hoey till age 25..

with x country strength on top, his kick is liable to be next level, as he will have much more left at the bell.

19 year olds have been known to improve a bit, once in a while.

in fact, historically he's on track to challenge for the world record at age 22,23.

Australia is in the stone ages athletically.
