Myers took the win at the Australian XC Trials over Seth O'Donnell and Morgan McDonald. Impressive for the 19-year-old 1500m star.
This was a selection event so perhaps it ran more tactically, giving way for Myers to kick to a win. Nevertheless, he clearly has endurance as is so common among the top 1500m athletes today.
I'm curious, where do you think he would have placed at NCAAs?
He ran 7.33 indoors at the beginning of the year but he's still primarily a 1500/miler.
He definitely has 7.30.0 potential, over 5000m it's hard to say but as another double threshold kid he's probably in the 13.10 ballpark. Hansen is a 13.07 guy but he's running that off 3.38 1500m so clearly more a strength based 5-10 runner and of course that helps over a 10000m XC course.
I don't think he would beat Samuel or Hansen, he's probably in that battle for the final podium spot, depending on the day he could have been anywhere from 3rd to 10th but I don't think much worse given what we just saw in the Australian race.
But also put into context at 19 he's probably a true Freshman so to even be in the top 5 is freaking incredible.
